 SCC summons reformist MP
Tehran, Feb 26, IRNA -- The reformist daily `Aftab-e Yazd' said Monday that Mohammad Mohammadi, representing Selseleh and Dolfan, has been summoned by the Special Court for the Clergy.
The SCC has been instrumental in bringing unorthodox members of the clergy into book, most notably the popular former vice-president Abdollah Nouri who was sentenced to five years in jail in 1999 for religious and political dissent.
More than 25 newspapers and journals have been closed down by the judiciary since April and at least a dozen journalists, editors and publishers jailed in the exercise of their profession.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Thursday said that the enemies presume that the right to access nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and its pursuance is merely Ahmadinejad's concern.
Speaking at the gathering of the provincial town of Selseleh, he added that access to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is the right of the whole nation.

President Mohammad Khatami arrived in Khorramabad, capital of western province of Lorestan on Saturday to confer with citizens in Selseleh town.
En route his visit to the southwestern province of Khuzestan, President Khatami has visited Lorestan to confer with citizens in the town of Selseleh as he did not manage to visit the people in Selseleh during his two former visits to Lorestan.
The town of Selseleh, home to 80,000 residents, is located 45 km north of Khorramabad.

Hassanvand said the MPs had expected the new president to pick at least one member of his cabinet from among provincial officials to deliver on his pledge to forming a “popular“ government.
A member of the Parliament minority (reformist) faction said recently that newly-appointed ministers are likely to spend time in the coming days in the legislature, and did not rule out the possibility of repeated summons and impeachments.
