Sembawang is a region in the northern-most part of Singapore, encompassing the largest land mass within the Sembawang GRC.
Towards the north-west lies the new residential town of Sembawang, replacing the previous satellite town of Sembawang Road End, of which the latter was phrased out in early 2004 under the Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme.
Despite the relatively large development in the new residential area, Sembawang remain a largely suburban residential area with military, industrial and recreational facilities at its margins.

Opened on 20 November 2005, it provides hassle-free transfer to the nearby Sembawang MRT Station.
Before its opening, bus services terminated at scattered parts of Sembawang town, including Admiralty Road West Bus Terminal for service 980, Sembawang Road End Bus Terminal for service 167 and the bus stop outside Sembawang MRT Station for service 981.

Today, Sembawang Town is a typical suburban public housing New Town in Singapore, with a Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Station and a few shopping centres.
The town central was known locally as 13th Miles, and was divided by Sembawang Road in the middle, with Kindo Cinema on the east and Sultan Theatre (known as Chong Pang back then) on the west.
Further north of Sembawang Road and a mile away from Sembawang Town Centre, the area was known as 14th Miles.
