Salic law - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shakespeare uses the Salic law as a plot device in his play Henry V, and states that it was upheld by the French to bar the claim of Henry V from the throne of France.
Notwithstanding the Salic Law, when Francis II of Brittany died in 1488 without male issue, his daughter Anne succeeded him and ruled as duchess of Brittany until her death in 1514.
The influence of Salic law is presumed to explain why she is toasted as "The Queen our Duke." The argument would similarly apply in the Isle of Man where she holds the title of Lord of Man.

Christian IX of Denmark - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The duchies were inherited after the salic law among descendants of Helwig of Schauenburg, senior of which after Frederick VII was Frederick, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg (1829-1880) (the future father-in-law of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany), who 1863 proclaimed himself as Frederick VIII of Schleswig-Holstein.
Because of Salic Law, the succession after childless Frederick was a question very thorny to arrange, and it did not go smoothly, but caused a war.
Denmark was also under Salic Law, but only among descendants of Frederick III of Denmark (who was the first hereditary monarch of Denmark - before him the kingdom was officially elective).

Carlism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After Alfonso Carlos' death, dynastic seniority — after the Salic law — fell upon Alfonso XIII, former constitutional King of Spain and then in exile at Rome, therefore, at least in theory, ending the family split.
But according to the theory of legitimacy in exercise, many Carlists thought that Alfonso XIII and his heir Juan de Borbón were radically disqualified to head the "Cause".

 Aridisols
A salic horizon is 15 cm or more in thickness and contains at least 20 g/kg salt.
Pedogenic processes produced numerous soil features associated with dry climate: (i) crusts, (ii) desert pavement, (iii) cambic horizons, (iv) argillic horizons, (v) natric horizons, (vi) carbonate accumulations (calcic and petrocalcic horizons), (vii) duripans, (viii) salic and gypsic horizons.
(viii) Salic horizons (Bz or Cz) are enriched with secondary salts more soluble than gypsum.

Who are the current successors to the British throne?
However, Hanover's Salic Law (actually, Semi-Salic) skipped over Victoria and went to his brother, HRH The Prince Ernest Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, making him heir-presumptive to the throne.
If, starting with Electress Sophia, Semi-Salic Law applied, the current monarch would be HRH The Prince of Hanover, current Head of the Royal Family of Hanover.
Salic Law was applied by France, Italy, and Yugoslavia, to name a few.

LECTURE NOTES ON THE MAJOR SOILS OF THE WORLD
With a salic horizon as the only common characteristic, there is considerable diversity among Solonchaks and a detailed account of their hydrological, physical, chemical and biological properties is not well possible.
This hysteresis between (rapid) influx of salts in the soil and (slow) discharge is conducive to net accumulation of salts (and development of a salic soil horizon) in seasonally dry regions.
Many saline soils in waterlogged backswamps are Gleyic Solonchaks; without their salic horizon they would have been Gleysols.

 Ochric horizon
A salt crust at the surface is part of the salic horizon.
Circumstantial evidence usually points to the presence of a salic horizon.
The low electrical conductivity and low soluble salt content of takyric horizons set them apart from the salic horizon.

Re: Royal Order of Francis I
They had different succession systems, the one semi-salic, the other exclusively salic with continued representation in the Bourbon- Parma line, while the Neapolitan throne (or claim) would pass to the nearest dynastic princess (or her heir male) of the last male descendant of Charles III.
In 1796 the continued separation was confirmed in a royal decree which confirmed the separation of the two dignities - the Crown and the Grand Magistery, each of them (as the decree stated) governed by their own laws.
Thus they may be compared with Great Britain and Hannover, which while united from 1700-1837 were then separated (more or less the same period of time in which the Constantinian Grand Master also reigned in Naples).

Treaty Utrecht Guizot Palmerston Louis-Philippe Orléans Roi des Français Antoine Duc de Montpensier Isabel II
The text of the renunciations were not altered after the introduction of semi-Salic law, so if they were effective as dynastic renunciations, it did not matter which system of succession prevailed.
It is obvious that, while the Salic law was in force in both countries, the strict enforcement of the stipulations of Utrecht in regard to females might well be considered as less important than it has now become, since the change which has of late years been made in the law of succession in Spain.
But the cases quoted by M. Guizot are very different from that of the marriage of the Duke of Montpensier."

However these Salic chieftains were related, they were certainly part of the leading family of the Salian Franks.
They were distinguished, like other Germanic aristocratic families by the fashion of allowing their hair (and sometimes beards as well) to grow long, and they became known as "the long haired kings".

 THE FRENCH LEGITIMIST CASE
The status of the renunciations of 1713, were put into further question by the abolition of semi -Salic Law in Spain in 1830/33.
Correspondence in the Archives Nationales (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Madrid, demonstrates that French and Spanish diplomats considered that the abolition of Salic Law, which removed the guarantee of the Spanish Throne to the Family of Bourbon-Anjou, rendered ineffective any remaining legality in the 1713 renunciations.
The French Ambassador to Madrid, the Vicomte de Saint-Priest, wrote protesting against this act, stating that it was "a veritable affront to the Head of the Dynasty".

Documents relating to the Spanish succession
Note that, in actuality, the Reglamento of 1713 introduces what is often called semi-Salic Law, whereby, on extinction of all male descendants in male line of the original sovereign (here Philip V), the succession rights pass to female descendants in male line.
This act introduced the so-called Salic Law into the Spanish succession, excluding females from inheriting the throne.

However, it was declared that the line of succession cannot go through a female, as per the claim that women cannot inherit property as per the Salic law (though this claim was probably made to keep an English king off of the throne).
The then King of England, Edward III, would logically have been declared king, as his mother was a daughter to the French crown.

COMISSION V : SOIL GENESIS, CLASSIFICATION AND CARTOGRAPHY
Genesis of arid and semi-arid soils (especially the formation of calcic, gypsic, and salic horizons); management problems; and the use of these soils for archaeological interpretations are the main focal points of this symposium.
Keywords: genesis, formation of calcic gypsic and salic horizons, soil management, archaeology, carbon cycle (sequestration), paleoclimate
The role of arid soils in carbon cycle and carbon sequestration; paleoclimate reconstruction are not well understood in the past and it is the aim of this symposium to bring together soil scientists, geologist and archaeologist to fill the interdisciplinary gap.

Since the Middle Pleistocene the southern Negev has been characterized by gypsic and salic soils typical of an extremely arid climate, while the calcic soils detected in the Red Units point to a semi-arid climate.
The sections of the Red Units in the Pliocene valleys were incised due to continuing tilting, which completely reversed the primary westward gradient of the valleys, and they were incised by new east and northeast-flowing streams.

It is a small step between the two- as it is between full and semi salic.
If we chose to alter the inheritance laws anyway why not have both semi-cognatic and full cognatic as we have full salic and semi-salic?
And, interestingly, Monaco is cutrrently considering altering its inheritance laws, as they presently have only one male heir and are under full salic law; Prince Albert (who is an Olympic athlete) is unmarried and in his 40's, but has two sisters, one of whom already has male children.

The agricultural potentials of sandy soils in the arid environment of the Near East region are hampered by their low water-holding capacity, weak structure and low organic matter content, low inherent fertility and micro-biologic activity and their association with salic, calcic or gypsic or duric physico-chemical conditions.
The low water holding capacity organic matter content, biologic activity and fertility of sandy soils and their association with salic, calcic and gypsic or duric physico-chemioal conditions hamper their productivity.

In 350 the became Roman Foederati and were allowed to move into better land inland along the Rhine.
By 430 they had occupied central "France" (not yet called France) and had control over the imperial arms factory at Soissones -- now the Franks have strategic value.

If there is a total Salic law among wizards, then the female line is debarred, so the next male heir is the younger brother of Sirius's paternal grandfather (if any such person exists) or the senior descendant of the second son of Phineas Nigellus (if any such person exists)...
It seems clear from what Phineas said that there is no "next heir" under Salic entailment.
