The title cut Seminole Wind, penned by Anderson, is one of the most beautiful songs to ever grace the airways.
This message is that the Florida Everglades are going dry because of a lack of consideration by man, for the fragile environmental balance of the land and water, and the negative impact this has had on the Glades.
Seminole Wind is all the better because of Knopfler's contribution to this CD.

The First Seminole War was started by the invasion of eastern Florida by U.S. army forces under the command of General Andrew Jackson.
The Seminole fort at Apalachicola, the so-called Negro Fort, had been razed in July, 1816 but the war is usually dated from the arrival of Jackson in December, 1817.
Seminole villages were destroyed and their crops burned, starving the warriors.

 A Brief History of Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco Music
The music of the Acadians in Louisiana in the 19th century was transformed by new influences: African rhythms, blues, and improvisational singing techniques as well as by other rhythms and singing styles from Native Americans.
As Savoy explains in her book, Cajun Music: A Reflection of a People, the accordion was brought to Louisiana in the late 19th century by German immigrants, but, because the accordion were tuned in keys that did not match the "open string" tuning of the fiddlers, it was not incorporated into Cajun music.
The music of Creole culture drew on the same French traditions as Cajun music but added to that the influence of African music in the New World–the rhythms of the Caribbean or the soulful melodies of the blues or a combination of these sources and more.

When one member who separated from the group, with the stage name "Lightning Rod," used a musical score provided by Kool and The Gang as a backdrop to his lyrical narrative of a day in the life of two hustlers, he had no idea he was laying the basis for an entirely new musical genre.
His vast repertoire of music, including some reggae beats that though loved in the streets were very hard to find, and his thundering speaker system known as "The Herculords" made his music highly danceable, rhythmical, and unavoidable.

Ten years ago, at a Seminole powwow in South Florida, I first heard Joanne Shenandoah sing, and was transfixed by the purity, clarity and beauty of her voice and music.
While working in the computer field, Joanne rediscovered the music of her people in 1989, and began recording her many folk/ Iroquois albums, with numerous traditional songs, many sung in the Iroquois language.
She has also created music for Northern Exposure and The Indian and the Cupboard, and was a feature singer opening Woodstock 1994.
