first with the detachment under V.V.Pronchishchev and with the detachment under Kh.P.Laptev he explored coast of the Arctic ocean from the Lena estuary to the Yenisey river and gave the description of coast of Taimyr peninsula from its western part up the promontory which was later named after (Cheliuskin cape).

The Cheliuskin was a Soviet steamship ice-bound in Arctic waters during navigation along the Northern Maritime Route.
It was named after the 18th century Russian polar explorer Semion Ivanovich Cheliuskin.
The steamship had been drifting with the ice-fields before sinking on February 13 1934, crushed by the icepacks.
