  Sened Jebel: Berber caves
Sened Jebel is clearly off the beaten track, mainly because the track leading out here makes most visitors and tour arrangers wonder if it is all worth the effort.
Sened Jebel has found a fertile spot between the mountains, an area where the drips from the surrounding mountains are enough to create a little basin of water.

 Sened - Senedj - Seneg - Nefersenedjra
A cartouche of Peribsen on a cylinder sealing in Milan, furthermore shows that Sened could not be the Neswtbity of the Seth-Peribsen; the latter must have reigned from one to four reigns after Sened, circa 10-20 years later (but see also below).
The tomb of Sened has not been found and it has been proposed, as for other second dynasty kings, that the galleries under the Western massif of the Djoser's funerary complex at Saqqara could have belonged to the tomb of Sened too.
In early year 2002, Dr. Raven and Van Walsem of Leiden University, have excavared the tomb and galleries of the 18th Dynasty tomb of Meryneith-Meryra (high priest of Aton at Memphis and Akhetaton -in Akhenaton's reign-); the subterranean parts proved to be almost all from reused from substructures originally of a Second Dynasty tomb.

Egyptian Pharaohs : Early Dynastic Period : Dynasty 2 : Peribsen
He succeeded Ninetjer, but also seems to have succeeded Sened, Neferkare, and Neferkaseker who may have ruled in the north during the same time as Ninetjer.
When he became king, it may have been after a civil war between Upper and Lower egypt, and it is very likely that his opponent was Sened and his successors, with each of them ruling a part of the country.
When Peribsen won, he took over the whole country as the single ruler, which is shown on an inscription from his tomb in Abydos that shows him victorious and receiving tribute from the North.

Multiparty Democracy - Cambridge University Press   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
Schofield and Sened demonstrate that incorporating the influence of valence issues — namely, party leaders’ non-policy-related reputations with respect to competence, integrity, and charisma — into the standard spatial model provides critical insights into election outcomes and party strategies.
This is the relationship between the preferences of citizens — including preferences that may have nothing to do with policy — and the outcomes of political competition.
Norman Schofield and Itai Sened have successfully tackled a long-standing problem in positive political theory -- that of linking together pre-electoral maneuvering, elections, coalition building, and governance in a single comprehensive framework.

The Ancient Egypt Site - 2nd Dynasty
The second name mentioned after Ninetjer in the King-lists, Sened, is not known through any contemporary sources at all.
The same source also suggests a connection between Sened's cult and that of Peribsen, a king of the 2nd Dynasty who is only attested in the south of Egypt.
This could mean that Sened and Peribsen either were the same person, or that they each ruled a part of the country at the same time and that the division of Egypt at that time was one of peaceful co-existence.

The probable predecessor of King Peribsen towards the end of the Second Dynasty, Sened would be entirely unknown were it not for an inscription of the Fourth Dynasty recording that a priest, Sheri, served his cult at Saqqara, as he did that of Peribsen.
That Sened's cult survived until the Pyramid Age suggests that he was considered to be of some status in the line of kings.

Publisher description for The political institution of private property / Itai Sened.
In this book, Itai Sened examines the political institution of property and other individual rights.
His argument is that the foundation of such rights is to be found in the political and economic institutions which grant and enforce them and not in any set of moral principles or 'nature.' The book further argues that individual rights are instituted through a political process, and not by any hidden market forces.
