Air Force officials recently selected 1,566 master sergeants for promotion to senior master sergeant.
The central evaluation board 04E8, which convened Jan. 26 to Feb. 12, considered 16,516 master sergeants for a 9.48 percent select rate, 3.48 percent above the minimum promotion-rate objective of 6 percent.
Those selected will be promoted to senior master sergeant beginning in April.
