Senshido - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Senshido ("Way of 1000 Masters") is an eclectic form of reality-based self defense and mixed martial art, based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada - created in 1994 by Richard Dimitri.
Senshido is a martial art that is purely geared towards self defence.
As explained by founder Richard Dimitri: "Senshido is not a style and doesn’t teach memorization of techniques.

 Richard Dimitri
So Senshido (a Japanese name) translated well and The way of 1000 masters seemed befitting since at the time (1993) my system was eclectic and originated from various sources.
My student replied Senshido and the 20 year old ignorantly replied "That place sucks, all you do is learn eye gouges and psychological bullshit there, you should train here in BJJ instead." When they sparred, my student tapped him out in under 3 minutes with a keylock.
Senshido delves deeper into the physical and athletic components of the 5 ranges (Kicking, Boxing, Close Quarter Combat, Grappling and Ground Fighting) and is bio-mechanically more enhanced as it is offered in longer periods of time (months or years) for people who wish to continuously train and improve as fighters on a holistic level.

I've only talked to Rich once, and been on his forum and I'd have to say he is humble and has good character.

In Total Defense of the Self is a relatively thorough write-up of the philosophy behind Senshido.
He views fighting as a continuum, a living body of ideas and practices that must be approached in whole to be understood.
Familiar Senshido principles like the "closest weapon, closest target" guideline appear (as I imagine they do in most of Rich's videos) and many permutations of groundfighting scenarios (or situations leading to groundfighting scenarios) are outlined.

The plaintiff was informed by the third defendant, the Senshido head office and manufacturer in Taiwan that, they knew about the first and second defendant buying Senshido products from the seventh defendant and the purchase was done with the third defendant's consent.
Their intention to interfere is shown by their overt acts of buying and then selling Senshido products without the plaintiffs knowledge, the advertising of sale of Senshido products in Malaysia bought otherwise than from the plaintiff and opposing the passing off suit.

Street Fighting Analysis Of The Shredder - Sherdog Mixed Martial Arts Forums
These principles dictated that when striking, it was logical to make sure that the time frame between strikes was as short as possible in order to offer your opponent less of a chance to reflexively and defensively react to the attack.
Because the startle to flinch response is a reliable physiological process that acts as an effective protective mechanism (we, Senshido, utilize it in terms of a launching pad off an ambush or surprise attack), I deemed it necessary to come up with a retaliatory concept that bypassed this phenomenon.
As I analyzed this process and realized its validity as a defense mechanism which is not only quicker and much more reliable than any memorized technique but also non perishable and impossible to bypass when it overrides cognitive processing, I began to design a concept of attack that bypassed this ‘involuntary’ triggered response.
