 www.septembereleventh.org: about us
For the past two years the Bush Administration has used the September 11th terrorist attacks as a pretext for the "War on Terror," stripping away civil liberties at home while waging "endless" war in Central Asia and the Middle East.
Constant reminders of the possibility of "further attacks" along with color-coded "terror alerts" in the mainstream media exploit the 9-11 tragedy and frighten the public into accepting a dangerous agenda that threatens our democracy and national security, as well as the peace and security of the world.
The official explanation of September 11th (that it was the work of a sinister and highly trained international network of Muslim terrorists, led by the still-at-large Osama bin Laden) continues to provide the primary rationale for this dangerous and destructive path.

And yet, in the aftermath of the 11 September attacks, the TV screens, newspapers and computer terminals of New York City and the rest of America are filled with irrational calls for the installation of more surveillance cameras and for the increased use of face recognition software to "enhance" the performance of these cameras.
Some terrorists live in areas of the world in which cameras are uncommon, rarely used or even condemned for the graven images they produce, and so find it that much easier to avoid being photographed in the first place.

WASHINGTON -- President Bush, having repeatedly linked Saddam Hussein to the terrorist organization behind the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, said yesterday there is no evidence that the deposed Iraqi leader had a hand in those attacks, in contrast to the belief of most Americans.

It was just weeks after the terrorist attacks that the first link between Saddam and al-Qaida was alleged by the administration.
