Some hunters had good success before the holiday weekend hunting cut hayfields and harvested oats and wheat fields, but they reported that geese have already become wise to the hunting pressure and are avoiding the fields that have been hunted so far.
The fl bear hunting season opens Wednesday, Sept. 8 for hunters who hunt with the aid of bait, and some hunters have reported decreased or intermittent activity with the ripening of the fl berries, mushrooms and dropping acorns.
September weekend camping availability is good after this weekend including the electric sites.

International nameplate brands continued to rack up sales increases in September, posting a 5.9% increase for the year to date, versus a 2.8% increase for the industry for a whole.
Honda’s 11.7% sales increase in September can be pegged to the increased fortunes of the Civic and Accord models, whose sales have been lagging all year.

The September 11 commission recommended that the budget authority for intelligence agencies be taken away from them and given to a new committee that would oversee both Pentagon and civilian spy programs, and divvy up the money for them.
With Congress scheduled to break again October 8 until after the election, pressure will be on for leaders to call a lame-duck session that could run until Christmas to complete the intelligence overhaul and a corporate tax bill.

Washington, DC – Sept. 8 – Numerous investigations launched by the U.S. government in response to accounts of torture and abuse of detainees at U.S.-run facilities fail to fully explain what happened, why, who is responsible, and how such abuse can be prevented in the future, Human Rights First said today in a new report.
In response to the shortcomings of these investigations, Human Rights First is calling for the establishment of an independent body with broad investigative authority, similar to the just-concluded September 11 Commission.
Establishment of such a blue ribbon panel has become a standard way for the U.S. Government to try to get at the truth underlying an event of great public significance and concern.
