Sequoyah County is a county located in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.
In the county, the population was spread out with 27.40% under the age of 18, 8.20% from 18 to 24, 26.90% from 25 to 44, 24.00% from 45 to 64, and 13.50% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the county was $27,615, and the median income for a family was $32,673.

 Kansas Counties
The county was composed of townships 21 through 26 south and ranges 31 through 34 west, which made it twenty-four miles east to west and thirty-six miles north and south.
In honor of the Cherokee Indian leader Sequoyah (1776-1843), the inventor of the Cherokee alphabet.
Sequoyah County was absorbed by Finney County in 1883.

Sequoyah High School opened in 1964 and is built on grounds that were a meeting place for the Sequoyah tribe of the Cherokee Nation.
Sequoyah High School served the Doraville and Chamblee communities for 25 years, and then in 1989 became a junior high to meet the needs of a changing enrollment.
The objective of Sequoyah Middle School is for each student to attend a standards-based classroom, regardless of the content area, where best teaching practices and high-quality work expectations and performance standards (for both students and staff) exist daily and in each class.

Section 5605 of the Code authorizes the board of county commissioners, in the case of any county or township officer, to present such accusation or bring an action, in the name of the county, for the removal of such officer, and the district court shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
From the statute quoted (section 5605, supra) it is clear that authority is conferred upon the board of county commissioners to present such an accusation and bring an action in the name of the county for the removal of such officer.
In this case the board of county commissioners have decided that the better interest of the county and taxpayers will be served in not permitting an appeal of this case and having the appeal dismissed.

Sequoyah County was named after the noted inventor of the Cherokee alphabet.
Almost every grade of land can be found in this county, varying in character and quality from the rough, rocky spurs of the Ozark hills which project across the state line from Arkansas, into the northeastern section of this county, to the very fertile valley of the Arkansas River, which forms its whole southern boundary.
Sequoyah County is fairly well supplied with railroads, the Kansas City Southern line traversing the county from north to south, and a branch of the Missouri Pacific crossing the county from the northwest to the southeast, thus affording the farmers and merchants convenient transportation facilities in almost every direction.
