The Serbian Mountain Hound is a rare dog breed from the Planina region of Serbia.
Although the puppet displays physical characteristics of the breed, and was identified as such during many appearances, the caption identifying Triumph as a Yugoslavian Mountain Hound was promptly removed after NATO military action ensued against Yugoslavia, perhaps to avoid awkwardness during sequences where Triumph ridiculed former Yugoslavian strongman Slobodan Milošević.
The breed was formerly known as the Yugoslavian Mountain Hound; the FCI changed the name in 1996.

In 1959 Yugoslav Hound Judges Assembly made a rough draft of standard with the remark that the name "hound of Alps" doesnt fit the breed, which is widespread all over the country.
They proposed a new name, "fl Balkan Hound", because most of theese dogs lived in cattle regions.The sketch of standard was accepted by KSSCG on April 1,1960, and the name of the breed was finally changed to "Yugoslav Mountain Hound".
If we study the stud-book of hounds from that time, we can see that most of Hounds of Alps were descendents of Balkan Hounds.Officially, FCI accepted the standard in Warshow,May 8,1969, under the number 279.
