Sergey Yurievich Sudeikin, also known as Serge Soudeikine (1882-1946), was a Russian artist and set-designer associated with the Ballets Russes and the Metropolitan Opera.
His close friends included the poet Mikhail Kuzmin and the impresario Serge Diaghilev, at whose invitation he came to Paris in 1906 for the Salon d'Automne Exhibition, where his work was first shown abroad.
Sudeikin designed the sets and costumes for Diaghilev's production of ''La tragédie de Salomé'' by Florent Schmitt in 1913, and assisted in the execution of Nicholas Roerich's designs for Stravinsky's ''The Rite of Spring'' the same year.

Mir iskusstva - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1904, Mir iskusstva was transformed into the Union of Russian Artists which continued officially until 1910 and unofficially until 1924.
The Union included painters (Valentin Serov, Konstantin Korovin, Boris Kustodiev, Zinaida Serebryakova), illustrators (Ivan Bilibin, Konstantin Somov), restorators (Igor Grabar), and scenic designers (Nicholas Roerich, Serge Sudeikin).
Like the English pre-Raphaelites before them, Benois and his friends were disgusted with anti-aesthetic nature of modern industrial society and sought to consolidate all Neo-Romantic Russian artists under the auspices of fighting Positivism in art.

Eventually Stravinsky's music was noticed by Serge Diaghilev, the director of the Ballets Russes in Paris.

As far as stage design was concerned, the tiny stage precluded lavish productions or majestic experiments of the type that Tairov and his artists were undertaking at the Chamber Theater.
Rather, stage design for Baliev and his artists, who included Re-mi and Sudeikin, consisted of either a literal representation of characters and periods (Baliev was fond of the 18th century) or the application of special technical effects.
For example, cinematography and a theater of shadows were used in a number called Life's Metamorphoses, and Baliev once installed red lamps under the tables that went on and off in time with the music.
