Ferrocarril de Sòller was in work, the government passed a law statuing that only railways with a network lenght of at least 30 would be able to get subventions from the state.

However, the negative financial results, which were quite considerable in the fifties, hastened the purchase of the shares of the company by the state and its incorporation into the state-run company FEVE in 1964.
The consolidation of the number of passengers on the Palma to Inca line and the increasing demand for public transport, especially as an alternative to the saturated road network, favoured the recovery of hitherto abandoned lines.

The Concordância de Tunes, a west-to-north curve for through running from Lagos towards Barreiro avoiding Tunes station, was still in place with the points clipped at each end, but was heavily overgrown and in places invisible.

It starts underground at the rebuilt railway terminal at Plaça d'Espanya and runs parallel to the existing railway to Inca, which was put underground up to Son Costa-Son Fortesa at the same time.

As a birthday gift the Majorcan railway company Serveis Ferroviaris de Mallorca produced a brochure „125 anys del tren a Mallorca“ and an exhibition in the Parc de ses Estacions at the Plaza España.
In the year 1929 electricity was introduced and the tram of Palma and the railway to Sóller were changed over to electric traction, the requisite electro-mechanics coming from Siemens in Germany.
The reason for the birth of this economical and technical curiosity was a dispute between the community of Alaró, which was the first having electrical power on the island and perhaps laid claim to being progressive, and the community of Consell, whose ground was crossed by the Palma-Inca railway.

On the (Soto de Rey -) El Caleyo - La Manjoya - Llamaquique - Oviedo section of RENFE’s main line, building of La Manjoya station is to start during 2004 (replacing La Manjoya station on FEVE’s Oviedo - Fuso de la Reina line that closed in 1999; BLN 846.0148).
If the aim is for Transports de les Illes Balears to work it along with their own regauged Palma - Inca - Sa Pobla / Manacor lines (R.3081), perhaps the change may take effect when the Ferrocarril de Sóller company’s concession ends in 2011 (R.3501).
Radical rebuilding has eliminated most other traces of the metre-gauge era, but east of the car-park the base remains of the far abutment of a now-vanished rail bridge over a track or lane, and beyond it the embankment, cut back and landscaped, that once carried the railway east towards its former terminus Fafe.
