		Setagaya has a reputation as an upscale residential district, and features many areas of greenery.
		The main train lines serving Setagaya are the Odakyu and Keio (originating in Shinjuku), and the Inokashira, Tokyu Toyoko, and Tokyu Denentoshi (all originating in Shibuya).

	Iranian's charge of brutality vs. word of police
		Two Setagaya Police Station officers, including Sgt. Toshikazu Suzuki, initially confronted him and demanded to see some identification, allegedly because he was acting suspiciously.
		A Setagaya police spokesman declined comment on the case, saying the matter is pending before court.

		This photography project was a night tour to observe the emergence of cicadas or creatures such as bats at Todoroki Valley in the evening.

	Aum Shinri-kyo Updates (CESNUR) -January 5-24, 2001
		AUM Shinrikyo carried out the deadly sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway system in 1995 in which 12 people were killed and thousands injured, as well as a number of other hideous crimes.
		The cult has changed its name to Aleph and pledged to abide by the law, but is still regarded with suspicion and many communities in Japan have resisted moves by AUM members to live in their areas.
		The Setagaya Ward office has rejected the application for domicile registration filed by the AUM followers living in the apartment building.

		The Setagaya line (see yellow line on map) is a small (5km) line that runs from Sangenjaya on the Tokyu Den'en-toshi line, to Shimo-takaido on the Keio main line.
		Stations are Sangenjaya, Nishi-Taishido, Wakabayashi, Shoinjinjamae, Setagaya, Kamimachi (their depot is here), Miyanosaka, Yamashita, Matsubara and Shimo-Takaido.

	Setagaya Art Museum -- Tokyo Meltdown Architecture Review
		Set in the tranquil urban oasis of Kinuta Park in Setagaya Ward, the Setagaya Museum is architect Shozo Uchii's attempt to house artworks in a structure which is both respectful of artworks and the natural environment within which the building is set.
		When news of the plans to construct the museum became public in the 1980's, community groups quickly mobilized against the project, afraid that the presence of a large building in the midst of a public park would detract from the natural environment.
		It is an eloquent expression of our age, a period in which the rapid exchange of information has brought previously segregated cultures together.

		During the last 40 years before his death, Miyamoto had a studio in Okusawa in Setagaya city where he produced large numbers of paintings and drawings.
		Last year, Miyamoto's heirs made a gift to Setagaya Art Museum of about 4000 items of his work that had been kept in the studio.
		This body of work, very little of which has been seen during the 25 years since his death, will now be made available to the public.

		The Tokyo-based theatre Setagaya Public Theatre and the Italian theatre company Teatro Kismet of Bari will co-produce an innovative rendition of Andersen's fairytale The Snow Queen.
		The production will be developed through a number of workshops to be held in Tokyo involving a number of young Japanese actors and musicians.
		The Snow Queen will open in Tokyo at the Setagaya Public Theatre in August 2005 followed by a tour to: Kirari-Fujimi Hall (Municipality of Saitama), Fukuoka City Foundation for Arts and Cultural Promotion (Fukuoka), Kani Public Arts Center-Ala (Gifu) and Biwako Hall (Shiga).

		We went to Setagaya park, which is gorgeous.
		A little haven, full of multi-coloured autumn trees, with bridges and a little pond with red-gold fish and duck in it.
