	Tapio Wilska - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		Tapio "Tonquemada" Wilska (born September 19th, 1969 in Savonlinna, Finland) is the main vocal-ist of the heavy metal band Sethian.
		His musical career started when he was in bands like Lyijykomppania, Stray Toasters and Nattvindens Gråt with Sami Vänskä and Tuomas Holopainen (both from the then yet to be founded Nightwish) in the middle of the 90s.
		In late 2002 however, vocalist Jan 'Katla' Jämsen left the band Finntroll because of a virusbased growth on his vocalchords.

	A Fast Marching Method of Computing Closest Points
		The narrow band is used as a starting point for propogating the closest point information outward and inward to the rest of the points in the distance grid.
		Given a point p in the zero set that is closest to the grid point (i,j,k) in the zero band, one can determine all the points in the zero set that lie in a neighborhood of p by determining all the points in the zero band in a neighborhood of (i,j,k).
		We use the closest points data in the zero band to determine the closest points in the narrow band on the distance grid and then march the narrow band outward and inward to calculate the closest points in the rest of the distance grid.

		Sethian first saw the light of day in 1998 in the small finnish town of Savonlinna, when two old friends (Wilska and Koponen) started discussing a band, based on good solid music and songs rather than an image.
		The birth of Sethian was imminent when the band that they both were in at the moment, Nattvindens Gråt (Wilska as the voice and Koponen as the guitarist) broke up.
		The first years of the band went in search of ”a few good men”, and their first demo (later published on the Black Widow Records compilation ”Not Of This Earth”) was made with a couple of old friends, Tuomas Holopainen from NG and Nightwish, and Sami Karttunen (later the drummer of Disco).

	Nightwish
		Nightwish is a Finnish heavy metal band, formed in 1996.
		While it is mostly the brainchild of Tuomas Holopainen who writes most of their songs, it is best known for its vocals.
		Shortly afterwards, Sami Vänskä left the band, and Marco Hietala from Sinergy[?] and Tarot[?] took over the bass guitar (he did not leave the other bands he plays in).

		Beginning from the year 2002 the band hit a string of bad luck, beginning from cancellations of some tours, continuing with the vocalist Katla's worsening throat problems which finally lead to his early retirement from the band.
		While recovering from the loss of a dear friend and bandmate the rest decided that ending the band would be an insult to his memory, and decided to honour and grieve him the best way they could, by going on tour and keeping his music alive.
		The band did a two week European tour in support of Katatonia, and brought in an old member of the family, guitarist Routa who had earlier played some gigs as a stand-in guitarist in Finntroll.

		Sethian is definitely not a band that I’d go for under normal circumstances.
		I have to underline how hard it is for a band put out an album involving lyrics about despair and lost love, catchy riffs, and a high pitched male choir as backing vocals without sounding cliché.
		First, because Sethian are Finnish, and second because they’re not at all as cheesy.

		I had heard the shift in vocal style on Nightwish’s previous ep ‘Over the Hills and Far Away’ and was fairly impressed at the change it had to the sound.
		Despite how good the rest of the band’s gothic metal style has been instrumentally, the only thing anyone will really take most notice of, is the opera singer.
		While still a bit of an acquired taste, [some people don’t even tolerate a metal band with a female vocalist] this is a solid cd that is definitely well produced and well written.

		Relatively soon Marco Kautonen (second guitar) and Juuso Jalasmaki (bass) were added to the line-up, too, and the band recorded their 1st demo entitled THE DREAM DOMAIN, which was sent to the headquarters of Spinefarm Records, and which made the Spine—staff interested in them.

		Newer bands such as For My Pain and Poisonfl have joined more established bands such as Entwine, Charon and To/Die/For in creating some excellent dark melodic metal.

		Naturally nothing happened, Portrait's failure to promote the album meant the band paid the price for the label's failure(interesting logic as ever), whilst the band's image upset a good number of people who may have otherwise relished the music.
		I confess I don’t know anything about band, when and why it was formed, who plays here also because I got the promo cd with the only titles printed on its surface.

		Nowadays it is really hard for a band like Sethian to get out of these masses of new Finnish Power/Gothic Metal bands.
		You could really say that a new, typicial Finnish sound has developed in the last years, many new bands were formed and surprisingly a great percentage of them knows how to make really good albums.
		Most of the melodies are created by guitarists Jussi Koponen, Juuso Jalasmäki (both can be heard on background vocals) and Marco Kautonen, but even though this band features three six stringers, it doesn't really show any effect on the sound, which can be described as melodic, catchy and a bit 80s influenced.

		To say the bands hasn’t missed beat is an understatement, as Nattfödd continues Finntroll’s unique legacy of humpaa/polka inspired, Trollish fl metal.
		If your reading this review, its doubtful that you need me to describe Finntroll’s unique sound, so I wont bore you with their superb take on fl metal, but rest assured this is still Finntroll despite all the adversity.

		I founded this band with my blood brother Somnium several years ago and as we gained other blood brothers in our excellent formation we have gone through many highs and lows.
