Pole dance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It involves dancing sensually with a vertical pole and is often used in strip clubs and gentlemen's clubs, although more recently artistic pole dancing is used in cabaret and stage performance in a non-erotic environment.
In a strip club setting, pole dancing is often performed less gymnastically and combined with striptease, and/or lap dancing between performers.
These poles are made with clear plastics and contain water, glitter, and special reflective materials which provide amazing effects when used in conjunction with strobe lighting, as well as lighting hidden in their base joists.

Table setting refers to the way to set a table with tableware—such as eating utensils and dishware—for serving and eating.
Informal settings generally have fewer utensils and dishes but use a stereotyped layout based on more formal settings.
Agenda setting is usually referred to as a function of mass media and not a theory (McCombs and Shaw, 1972).

Setting a Steel Pole in a Live Circuit - UtilityInnovations.com   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Setting a pole in a live circuit is an everyday practice in most electrical utilities and the communications industry.
Many utilities have taken the position that all poles are conductive and, therefore, the same procedure for setting a pole in a live circuit should apply, whether the pole is wood, steel or concrete.
The workers at risk, while setting a pole in a live circuit, are the workers on the ground, operating the boom, controlling the pole butt and anyone standing near or touching the truck, trailer, groundingcables and/or ground rod.

Canoe Poles - Pole & Paddle Canoe
Who knows who used the first pole to propel a canoe through shallow water but it's a pretty good bet that it was just a tree cut from the shore or maybe picked up from a driftwood pile or a beaver cutting.
When the job is done the shoe is removed and the pole discarded or leaned in an obvious spot on the bank to be used by the next party through.
The other complication, though not a bad one, is that after using a pole for a few days or weeks you kind of form a bond with it and end up taking it home, so you might as well have carried one with you anyway, and saved the initial search.

Pole Setting Procedure - Lineman Job Work Method   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Traditionally, the pole butt worker handled the pole using rubber gloves to protect from touch potentials and tongs to keep his feet away from the highest potential ground gradients near the pole.
Setting up a ground-gradient matting grid bonded to the truck ground and bonded to the pole would insure that the worker controlling the butt will then be protected, should the pole become accidentally energized when it is being raised.
Pole tongs or “pole handlers” were designed to keep the worker away from the pole, away from the highest step potentials — the voltage difference between a worker's feet on the ground and hands or another part of the body such as a shoulder touching the pole.

River canoers also use a setting pole for navigating portions of river where the water is too shallow for a paddle to create thrust, or where the desired direction of travel is opposite a current moving faster than paddlers can paddle.
A setting pole is usually made of ash, or a similar resilient wood, and is capped on the ends with metal to withstand the repeated pushing against the bottom and rocks.
The setting pole is used exclusively by the sternman.

 Setting your house post
As far as setting the pole the instructions work just fine also but, if you feel a need to go a bit more "solid", here is how I would do it.
The whole point is to anchor both the top and bottom of the pole in the hole and this will be so strong the pole would have no choice in moving anywhere by any amount of wind.
Setting it below the frost line anchors the bottom in stable ground and the "heave" of the ground above just slips by the cement and pole, so to speak.

Old-timers call the use of the setting pole to run downstream “setting down” and one is said to “set” a canoe when it’s navigated with a pole.
When the pole’s striking on the bottom slows the canoe or changes its course, that action is described as “snubbing.” “To snub” is an old-timer’s word for stopping or slowing any object, such as a canoe or log, by means of friction.

Resolution: I adopt SBC’s proposed means of allocating the percentage of the pole it uses, and count SBC as an attacher for purposes of calculating pole rates.
Therefore, we include the utility pole owner in the count, resulting in a minimum of two attaching entities being counted. If each pole owner has a minimum of two attachers, according to SBC, the FCC must be counting the pole owner and one attacher.
Pole Allocation/Attachers Portion of Allocated Pole Case law is also not particularly helpful on how to allocate a proportion of the pole to the attacher (SBC).

Thus, the pole attachment rate is equal to the pole investment value multiplied by the carrying charge percentage multiplied by the allocation factor.
The MCTA argues that the legislative intent was to reduce pole attachment rates from their present level of $4.95 per pole and that using reproduction costs to raise rates would be contrary to this intent.
A uniform statewide pole attachment rate of $3.74 per pole per year should be approved as just, reasonable, and in the public interest, which encompasses the interests of attaching parties' customers as well as the interests of utilities and their ratepayers.
