Seven Soldiers of Victory - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Seven Soldiers of Victory (also known as Law's Legionaires) is a team of comic book superheroes in the DC Comics universe.
The Seven Soldiers of Victory (also known as the Law's Legionnaires) was DC Comics' second super-hero team.
The only way to stop the hand was to find the legendary Seven Soldiers of Victory, who defeated a similar menace in the form of the Nebula Man many years previously, though at the seeming cost of their existences, since no one could remember who they were.

 Sequential Tart: Seven Soldiers: Zatanna #1 - Under a Microscope (vol VIII/iss 6/June 2005)
Confusingly, one of her fellow issues-ridden metahumans looks a lot like one of the characters who had apparently already met a horrible end in the parent series for the ongoing Morrison-driven Seven Soldiers of Victory event, of which the Zatanna miniseries is a part.
However, instead of relating some tale of a traumatic escape from near-death in the book's sister title, the character in question claims that her reason for attending the self-help group is that her promising career as Gimmick Girl was derailed by sexual abuse by shape-shifting monsters.
As anyone familiar with comics fandom knows, the kind of people who are sufficiently into comics to have actually heard of the Seven Soldiers of Victory before the current miniseries tend to have rather definite ideas about continuity and what is and is not out of character.

The Pickytarian: Subway Reading: Seven Soldiers of Victory
Seven Soldiers of Victory #0 - In his recent run on JLA Classified, Grant Morrison dropped that little nugget about Batman's "sci-fi closet," where the caped crusader keeps his various boom tubes and other cosmic devices.
In this prelude to his year-long Seven Soldiers epic, Morrison delves even further into the narrative difficulties that are created by market-driven editorial decisions such as sending Batman into outer space or putting him on the Justice League.
The character of Shelly "Whip(?)" Gaynor expresses her motivations for leaving her "morally ambiguous urban vigilante" life behind to join a super-team and try to save the universe: the thrills aren't enough anymore.

Crimson Avenger: He appeared first in "Detective Comics #20" (seven issues before Batman), and under the mask was Lee Travis, the publisher of a newspaper who just became too sick with all the wave of crime that was so common then during the '30s after the famous Economic Crisis.
Two years after that, the guest star role forgotten (along with all his appearances in the late 1940s and early '50s), the entire Seven Soldiers of Victory group was brought back, in a Justice League/Justice Society crossover story that alleged they'd all been lost in time since the Leading Comics series ended in 1945.
"Seven Soldiers #0" is announced to hit the stands in February 23rd.

Seven Soldiers FAQ: A Beginner's Guide - Barbelith
Seven Soldiers 0 is a prologue in which a revamped Whip, grand-daughter of the Golden Age character, is recruited by Vigilante to combat an alien menace, alongside Spyder, son(?) of the Golden Age character, and new heroes Gimmix, Boy Blue and Dyno-Mite Dan.
Although none of the Seven Soldiers realize they're all members of the same team, there are Points of Contact between the various issues which the bookends help to set up and elaborate.
During the 1970s, the Seven Soldiers popped up in occasional Justice League stories, and that was about it for a long while, aside from single-panel cameos.

Seven Soldiers may not be as daring as Morrison's innovative Animal Man (see Deus ex Machina, 2003), which tested the very limits of the superhero genre, but fans of his work and of superheroes a bit out of the ordinary will enjoy the ambitious project.
The focus should be on the Seven Soldiers of victory, the footnote supergroup of the silver age, which Morrison attempts to dutifully recreate with characters that he himself selected.
The great accomplishment of Seven Soldiers is not that the titular characters are so well done, but that the supporting cast is so fantastic as well.

Seven Soldiers of Victory #1 Review - Silver Bullet Comics
He relates the story of the Seven Soldiers of Victory with Justina the Shining Knight emerging from the Cauldron to confront Gloriana, the Evil Queen of the Faerie, excuse me Sheeda.
All of the module mini-series were foreshadowing to place each soldier in the vicinity of where he or she needed to be for Zatanna's spell to work, for Zatanna to in fact save the cosmos through the soldiers.
One can argue that Zatanna's spell in fact alters time by shaping the past to save the present and the future, possibly represented by the cards she fires from her sleeves depicting scenes from The Seven Soldiers of Victory series as well as the white outlines of clocks in the backdrop.

Seven Soldiers of Victory is an ambitious project.
The Seven Soldiers are characters from DC Comics's archives (except for Zatanna, who appears to us to be still quite current with appearances in things like Books of Magick), brought back to life.
Although some of the drama of the first volume is lost, mostly due to the lack of new characters, the resolution of some of the soldiers' stories makes it essential to the flow of the series.

What I found most amazing about Seven Soldiers of Victory #0 (by Grant Morrison and J.H. Williams) is how quickly I connected to it.

This first issue (#0) is a prequel to what's to come: seven four-issue mini-series which will have inter-connections which create a larger arc if the all 28 are read, but each of which are self contained.
