The Seventh-day Adventist Church was born out of the Millerite Movement of the 1840s, which was one of the last waves of revivalism and is known as the Second Great Awakening.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is run by a form of democratic representation which mixes hierarchical (or episcopal), presbyterian and congregational elements.
Adventists claim that the change of the day from Saturday to Sunday is fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies found in Daniel 7 which points to a human authority attempting to change biblical laws.
