 Joan Severance
Severance said she was a bit intimidated about playing a real person, recalling that she heard Joey Bishop interviewed on the radio about an actor who was portraying him in a film, "and he was not complimentary at all!
Joan Severance has had enough of playing femmes fatales, which is a big reason she decided to climb aboard The Love Boat when Aaron Spelling asked her to.
Pailey, explained Severance, was a femme fatale in a way, "because she wanted Harriman to marry all these men so that she wouldn't take her husband away.

FILM REVIEW; He Knows a Lot, Just Not His Name - New York Times
What starts off as a simple enough arrangement -- a ride from Zurich to Paris in exchange for $20,000 American cash -- quickly becomes perilously complicated as Bourne's old employers close in, hoping to negotiate a suitable severance package.
The movie, in time-honored (if by now also anachronistic) spy thriller fashion, hops from one picturesque European spot to another, each location conveyed in postcard-perfect aerial perspective.
Bourne, in any case, has gone off the reservation and into the stormy Mediterranean, with two bullets in his back, a Swiss bank account number implanted in his hip, and a bad case of amnesia.

DAILY NEWS: NY Crix Head-Over-Heels For "Topsy-Turvy"; DDA Slashes Staff; MN Film Society Lives!
The Best Actor award went to Richard Farnsworth for his role in David Lynch's "The Straight Story" and Hilary Swank picked up her third acting kudo for her work in Kimberly Peirce's "Boys Don't Cry," after taking the Boston Society of Film Critics and L.A. Film Critics Association votes.
Winning its third critics poll in the Best Non-Fiction Film category was Wim Wenders' "Buena Vista Social Club." The only critics poll so far not to tout that film was Boston, which named S.R. Bindler's "Hands on a Hardbody" as best doc.
In the U.S., five staff members including executive VP Nancy Willen, were let go without notice or severance, although Willen will remain in her office through mid-January to handle the release of Mike Leigh's "Topsy-Turvy," which is now in Oscar qualifying runs in New York and Los Angeles.

'Severance' pay $1.4 mil from U.K. fund
LONDON-- The U.K. Film Council is pumping £750,000 ($1.4 million) into "Severance," the second movie from British writer-director Chris Smith, who brought cult horror hit "Creep" to theaters.
Presented by former PolyGram Filmed Entertainment president Michael Kuhn's Querty Films, the movie is backed by the council and the Isle of Man Film Commission.
The film details the story of a fictional weapons multinational, Palisade Defense, which rewards its European sales division with a team-building weekend in the mountains of Eastern Europe.

Both are so gory as to make the scene nearly unwatchable; in the film, the camera mercifully pans away at the moment of severance.
But the masterstroke was commissioning a text-only commentary from Michael Okuda, the co-author of the Star Trek Encyclopedia and a consultant on various Trek films and TV shows.
Okuda types: Star Trek II is a lesson in efficient film making … (long pause, while screen refreshes) … and ingenious use of resources.

Amazon.com: Black Scorpion II: Aftershock: DVD
The film opens with Darcy tracking down the Gangster Prankster (sort of a cross between the Joker and Two-Face) and then busting him as Black Scorpion.
While not quite up to the level of the first film (the fight scenes are almost comical) it was still a fun film and I would recommend it to anyone who has seen the first Black Scorpion film.
Severance played the Scorpion in the original Black Scorpion movie, and in this sequel, and Lintel took over for the tv show.

 The Monkeyhouse Lounge: Black Scorpion
The movie stars Joan Severance as Darcy Walker, a cop who decides to become the Black Scorpion after her father is killed by a brainwashed District Attorney.
So I like the Black Scorpion costume and it's fun to see Severance kick some butt and the movie has a nice gritty noir feel to it.
But I figured that it would be appropriate to view his vision of a superhero film with all the comic book movies to come out in the next few years.

Conspicuously missing is Severance’s co-star and love interest Bruce Abbott from the first film - she has a new partner in Whip Hubley (who peculiarly has the same name as Abbott’s character on the end credits but is referred to as someone different throughout).
Joan Severance (Darcy Walker/Black Scorpion), Stoney Jackson (The Gangster Prankster), Sherrie Rose (Dr Ursula Undershaft/Aftershock), Garrett Morris (Argyle), Whip Hubley (Rick Bromley), Stephen Lee (Captain Strickland), Terri J. In 1998, Bauhaus reunited for the "Resurrection Tour", which featured two new songs ("Severance", originally written by Dead Can Dance, and "The Dog's a Vapour", which was also featured on the soundtrack for the film, "Heavy Metal 2").
Bauhaus combined a number of influences (punk music, glam rock, even funk and dub) to create a gloomy, but very passionate sound which appealed to many left looking for something new in the wake of punk's collapse.
Bauhaus is a British rock band (formed in Northampton in 1978) popular in the 1980s.

filmcritic.com Movie Review: Leaving Las Vegas
In Vegas, Ben resigns to drink himself to death, burning his severance pay to the tune of $200 to $300 a day on liquor and the occasional prostitute, one of whom turns out to be his alter-ego, Sera (Elisabeth Shue).
The main way Leaving Las Vegas has been described to me is this: "It's very, very sad." Finally able to see for myself, I can confirm that indeed the film is not the feel-good movie of the year.
Leaving Las Vegas tells the tragic story of Ben Sanderson (Nicolas Cage), a once-powerful movie executive who is fired from his job and ends up moving to Las Vegas.

Darcy (Severance) plays it all dead straight in her role as a suspended cop, but the villain is a Darth Vader clone called The Breathtaker who, with his army of "wheezing warriors", wants to make everyone in Gotha...er, the City of Angels breathe like him.
The main problem with this film is an inability to decide whether to take itself seriously; there's no consistency in tone, not least between hero and villain.
It's your basic costumed vigilante, driven to operate outside the law following the death of a loved one, possessing cool gadgets and a neat car with which to fight crime.

OFF THE TELLY: Features/BBC2 at 40"I Don't Want That Appearing in Private Eye"
Inevitably the severance deal was generous: Singer received £500,000 to launch his own company, which he cheekily titled White City Films, the name he knew the Beeb had planned for their own film offshoot.
Milne moved him to fill the vacant Managing Director of Radio role in 1986, but he was a fish out of water and, after failing to become DG when Milne was sacked 12 months later, quit the BBC.
Sure enough when Alasdair Milne replaced Trethowan as DG and came to pick his new team, his choice of Bill Cotton for MD was overruled and Singer landed the post (plus the title of Deputy Director-General) instead.
