Bristol Green Party - Local rail strategy
Increase the frequency of Severn Beach line services to half hourly, keeping as frequent a service as possible during the evening peak period.
on many lines, especially the Severn Beach line, means that weekend journeys away in the rest of the country are not practical as a train cannot be used for the last part of the return journey.
The ability to reach Severn Beach is particularly important for cyclists, as it means that they can get out of Bristol without having to negotiate their way through the very hilly north-west of the city, and can use signed cycle routes into Gloucestershire and onto the Severn Bridge.

 Beach Guide. Bristol Channel
The beaches further up the channel tend to be large sandy beaches at high tide, but as the tide drops they turn to mud and then the sea vanishes over the horizon and if you try to follow it you'll be up to your armpits in mud in no time.
The rocky and then muddy beach of Severn Beach isn't the prettiest in the world (or even in the Bristol Channel for that matter) but it is possible to windsurf here either an hour or so before high tide in a NE wind or an hour or so after high tide in a SW wind.
The beaches of Brean and Berrow are still highly tidal though and sailing is therefore restricted to around 2 hours either side of high tide.
