Seward was founded in 1903 and named after William Seward, who bought Alaska from the Russians in 1867.
Seward is located at 60°7′28″N, 149°26′0″W. According to the United States Census Bureau, Seward, Alaska has a total area of 55.8 km² (21.5 mi²).
In Seward, Alaska the population was spread out with 21.9% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 35.9% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
