Family Synergy - Article, Sexual Equality
Sexual equality exists when males and females are equally valued as human beings by the members of both sexes.
Culturally, sexual equality may be judged by the extent to which males and females are equal under the law and show mutual respect for each other's right to self actualization.
However, basically sexual equality is a personal inner feeling, characterized by a person's feeling whole inside himself or herself and treating others as his or her equal.

In the absence of actual equality and identity between the roles of men and women, there would have to be trade-offs between the relative advantages of the male and female roles, as there were in the Western past, and as still exist in many parts of the world.

Sexual equality as a way to peace: evaluating the claim--Briana Cummings
In support of the claim that women and men were valued equally in prehistoric societies, Eisler again cites the excavations of Gimbutas, who found, “hardly any difference in wealth of equipment…between male and female graves” in practically all the known cemeteries in Old Europe.
In Eisler’s view, the power of gender equality to promote peace comes from the power of the values on which gender equality are based, and these values are – or could be – gender neutral.
She connects gender equality in prehistoric times to the belief in a female deity, worshipped for her life-giving and life-maintaining powers.

Miss xxxxx explains that her questions arise from her desire "to understand the Bahá'í concept of equality of the sexes in light of some Bahá'í laws and history which 'appear' to undermine it".
Rather, a new meaning should be sought in the light of the principle of the equality between men and women, and of statements of the Universal House of Justice that neither husband nor wife should ever unjustly dominate the other.
With regard to the status of women, the important point for Bahá'ís to remember is that in face of the categorical pronouncements in Bahá'í Scripture establishing the equality of men and women, the ineligibility of women for membership of the Universal House of Justice does not constitute evidence of the superiority of men over women.

 D. M. Procida and Carol Jones review Biology at Work: Rethinking Sexual Equality by Kingsley R. Browne
That is, according to him, the social sciences (in particular) have arrived at a notion of sexual equality based upon a false picture of human nature, one which inadequately recognises its biological and evolutionary provenance.
Biology at Work: Rethinking Sexual Equality suggests, therefore, that a new and richly-laden intervention may be at hand, for, like it or not (and many in the humanities and social sciences do not) biology’s excursions beyond its more traditional remit have been one of the great academic success stories of recent years.
Instead, the equality he wants to rethink seems to be the equality-as-parity that enjoyed a relatively brief flowering in the economically-minded Anglophone liberal feminist tradition thirty-five years ago, and which has been pretty comprehensively rethought already.

Theological and sexual liberals often appear to look at things as if they were a matter of social psychology, rather than the biblical and Christian theology of creation and spirituality: ultimately the mystery of Christ and His Church.
He clearly treated women as equals to men, so that if He intended for them to be ordained like men, it is altogether plausible to assume He certainly would have made that teaching publicly also.
The man gives up his sexual passion temporarily in exchange for the love and commitment of one woman, and the woman in turn gets protection, an assurance that her husband is trustworthy, security and adoration in exchange for "sexual favors" (in marriage, of course).

All that the Church has sought in relation to the sexual conduct of its clergy is that it should, like other denominations and faiths, remain free to debate and set its own requirements rather than have them externally imposed by the secular authorities.

Because rape is a crime virtually always committed by men using their physical strength, when women seek to tempt men into unwanted sexual acts, they have to use means other than the physical: they resort to a seduction that becomes an indirect, non-violent, and non-criminal means of coercion—a stealth counterpart, but not equivalent, of rape.
The double standard in sexual morality is now rejected—which means that women are not expected to be more modest than men.
Theoretically, there could be a single standard for sexual morality and all would behave modestly, as women used to do—an idea that early feminists like Elizabeth Cady Stanton had.
