Employees based in the South were a tad likelier to hear ethnic slurs, with 32% of Southerners reporting they overheard ethnic slurs versus about 25% of workers in the Northeast, 26% in the North Central region and 28% in the West.
But regional differences were more striking with regard to remarks on sexual orientation: 24% of workers in the South overheard insults related to sexual orientation compared with 14% in the Northeast, 19% in the North Central region and 20% in the West.
