		Seymour Geisser (1929 - 2004) was a statistician noted for emphasizing the role of prediction in statistical inference.
		Geisser was also the principal editor of several books of papers by multiple authors.

	Cross-validation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		In statistics cross-validation is the practice of partitioning a sample of data into subsamples such that analysis is initially performed on a single subsample, while further subsamples are retained "blind" in order for subsequent use in confirming and validating the initial analysis.
		The theory of cross-validation was inaugurated by Seymour Geisser.
		Cross-validation is very important in guarding against testing hypotheses suggested by the data, especially where further samples are hazardous, costly or impossible (uncomfortable science) to collect.
