I was in the pub in Portnalong the night before when I got talking to Tom and his mates who had come to Skye for the week from Cockermouth, Cumbria.
Continuing on to Alasdair I had my most unnerving moment of any walk I'd done (I was petrified actually).
There is dodgy part on the path where a small gap needs to be crossed and the idea is to step onto a ledge(with left foot), grab a hand hold and step of again.

The look on their faces said it all, where probably normally they would be asserting the right and wrong way to do things, with over confidence, were now pale and silenced by the moment of reckoning as they faced the Pinnacle bearing over them.
Sgurr Mhic Choinnich is the only Skye Munro I've done before - but it was under thick cloud and hard rain at the time.

Cuillin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Generally they receive less attention than their higher neighbours, and consequently the word Cuillin without a colour prefixed is often taken to mean the Black Cuillin.
The highest point of the Cuillin, and indeed the Isle of Skye, is Sgurr Alasdair in the Black Cuillin.
The Black Cuillin are mainly composed of basalt and gabbro, the latter being a very rough rock which makes for superb grip for mountaineers.

About United Kingdom - Over to Skye and a scramble to Sgurr Alasdair   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
The hill common to the requirements of the three of us was Sgurr Alasdair, the highest peak in Skye at 992m.
The first recorded ascent by Alexander Nicolson, (Alasdair MacNeacail in Gaelic) one of the early Cuillin explorers, was in 1873 and the peak now bears his name, a practice almost peculiar to Skye.
There is a snag, however, in that approach and it is called the Great Stone Chute, a massive scree that runs from a steep gully just to the east of the summit of Sgurr Alasdair, all the way to Coire Lagan.

To the left and above the screes rise the steep cliffs to the Sgurr Alasdair complex, to the right steep boulder screes rise at a remarkable angle to the shoulder that leads to Sgurr nan Eag.
The summit is marked by a well made cairn perched on top of a narrow outcrop and we settled down for a rest and bite to take in the view - and for a second lesson on the tin whistle.
Below is Loch Coruisk, to the north the rocky ridges of Sgurr Dubh Mor, behind this are Sgurr Dearg and the In Pin; and the northern peak of Sgurr nan Gillean is hidden from view.
