Optimally, one ought to recite Shacharit at sunrise (naytz hachamah).
Accordingly, we may rely on the opinion of those authorities who feel that Shacharit may begin at dawn (alot hashachar), some 72 minutes before sunrise, even though it is still entirely dark.
At the end of Shacharit, touch the tzitzis of your talis and recite the appropriate b'racha Do the same to the tefillin, as you touch each one recite the proper b'racha.

Shacharit and minchah correspond to the morning and evening daily sacrifice; the tamid.
The amidah, the 'silent prayer', is the focal point of shacharit and represents the actual korban olah that was brougt in the bet ha'mikdash.
Then there is also a section after the amidah to bring us down gradually from the level of devotion achieved during the amidah and to enable us to bring down the inspiration that we achieved during the amidah to practical level.

Traditional davening means chanting the liturgy using the traditional melodies (nusachim); this is often familiar and comfortable to those who are accustomed to it but can be alienating to those who don't recognize the melodies as well or aren't comfortable with Hebrew.
When I was a child, my parents used to say it was okay to miss most of Shacharit because much of the liturgy would be repeated during the Musaf (additional) service after the Torah is read.
By the way, the early part of the service, from 9:30 to about 10:15 is almost all singing and chanting and very appropriate for small children (and big ones) who are either pre-Torah school or one their way to Torah school at 9:45 am.

In this section, historical events such as the Exodus from Egypt and the splitting of the Red Sea are recalled, as well as the triumphant Song of Moses upon the deliverance of Israel from the hands of the Pharaoh.
In fact, the entire Shacharit service is seen as a replacement for the morning sacrifice service that opened the daily Temple service in Jerusalem.

Shacharit was invented by Abraham, the first Jew, who would regularly connect to G-d in the morning time, and taught his descendants to do likewise.
The standard introduction is the first of Shacharit’s three sections, entitled Verses of Praise, or Pesukei D’zimra (pronounced peh-SOO-kay d-ZEEM-rah) in Hebrew.
The Amidah (pronounced ah-MEE-dah) is the central, critical section of Shacharit, around which the other sections were built.

If it is your minhag to do so, yes, or if you are sheliach tzibbur (presumably visiting a shul) and it is the minhag of the tzibbur to do so.
I believe that in general Ashkenazim do not do so (they also put on tefillin at shacharit) but that Sephardim, Mizrachim and Temanim put on both tallis and tefillin at mincha but not at shacharit.
Shacharit is no different than any other Shacharit.

 Daily Services
There are three daily services prescribed by tradition: Ma'ariv, Shacharit, and Minchah.
In fact, the prayer services are also substitutes for the sacrifices made in the Temple in Jerusalem prior to its destruction in 69/70 C.E. The morning prayers (Shacharit) and afternoon prayers (Minchah) correspond to the morning (Tamid offering) and afternoon sacrifices (the second Tamid).
While there is great variety in the prayers, moods, and liturgies of the various Jewish worship services, there are also structural commonalities which mark them as distinctly Jewish.

The biggest trick is being aware of the structure of the siddur itself.
The siddurs most commonly used in Orthodox and Conservative synagogues include within a single volume all of the prayers for all four prayer services (Shacharit, Musaf, Minchah and Ma'ariv).

If this occurred during Arvit, however, he may continue the Amida and have in mind that it should be considered a voluntary prayer; in such a case, he should add a new request in each of the middle Berachot of the Amida (Halacha Berura).
Yes, and he should have in mind that if he had recited Shacharit this Amida should be considered a voluntary Tefila (Halacha Berura).
Yes, and he should not intend for it to be considered a voluntary prayer if he had already prayed; since he recites the Amida on behalf of the congregation, he should have in mind that he recites an obligatory Tefila (Halacha Berura).

It also seems that it is legitimate (le-khatchila) to pray before sunrise if there is some need.
