According to the fact that the Shadegan wetland is one of the most important international wetlands of Iran, 35000 cubic meters of toxic trashes of Gaysi should be expeled and the necessary actions for neutralization should be done as soon as possible.
Shadegan wetland with the area of 400000 hectare is placed 40 km from Ahvaz.
Shadegan Marshes were included on the Montreux Record on 16 June 1993 because of the effects of chemical pollution which resulted from the Iran-Iraq war.

Based on the province’s tourism plan, the executive process of changing the Shadegan Pond into tourism resort will be commenced early next year, Sadeq Mohammadi, the head of the province Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (CHTO) said.
Due to existing much similarities between Italy’s Venice and Shadegan Pond in Khuzestan province, the region can be called Khuzestan’s Venice, he stressed.
As the pond enjoys many attractive tourism sites and also hosts a great number of migrant birds which come from Siberian regions in the north, it is one the best resorts in the south of the country to watch the birds.

Tehran, Iran, Apr. 21 — The prosecutor in the Department of Justice in the southern town of Shadegan was shot and seriously wounded, a semi-official daily reported on Saturday.
The official, identified as Najafabadi, was shot in his car on his way from work by masked gunmen who made their escape on a motorbike, the hard-line daily Kayhan wrote.
Shadegan is situated in the Arab-dominated province of Khuzestan.

TEHRAN -- The development project of oilfields of Shadegan and Gachsaran will be soon approved, with the purpose of increasing the oil production in these fields, Bahman Samimi, an official working in development project of the eight oilfields said on Tuesday.
He explained that after issuing the permission for developing these oilfields, the documents of the bids on the project would be prepared, and the fields would be put on tender in order to prepare the master development plan (MDP).
Upon approval of the MDP, the oil production will increase to 80,000 barrels from 50,000 in Shadegan, and in Gachsaran, the production will be boosted to 600,000 barrels from the current figure of 480,000, he noted in conclusion.

Ahwaz, Nov 15, IRNA -- Environmental pollution resulting from an oil leakage has killed thousands of birds and endangered many others in a large international lagoon in southern Abadan, the head of the Environment Protection Organization in Khuzestan province said on Wednesday.
Oil leakage from pipes near the international Shadegan Lagoon has polluted 100 hectares of swamp in the area, Kazem Sepehrfar said, adding that it has also inflicted "irreparable damage" to surrounding flora and fauna.
An official, who asked not to be named, told IRNA the sewage that has leaked from the sewage pipes of the Abadan Oil Refinery carried oil and is the cause of the disaster.

Shadegan International Wetland is of high economic value, head of Environment Department for Abadan, Khorramshahr and Shadegan said.
The official stated that Shadegan International Wetland, which is one of the 20 marshlands designated in 1971 Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, is very important from ecological, economic, social and recreational perspectives.
