The Shadows Know! - The Shadows - Song Listings
When Atlantic Records announced that the Shadows were being groomed to take the Ventures' surf guitar crown away, a lot of people had their ears tested.
No matter that surfing and the British shore were mutually exclusive concepts; the Shadows' very stagewear (suits and spectacles) set them aside from even the most adroitly turned out beach boy.
Their American debut album was titled Surfing With the Shadows, and the liners to their sophomore set continued the connection.

Shadows (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Shadows is Canadian singer Gordon Lightfoot's 15th original album, released in 1982 on the Warner Brothers Records label.
He moves further away from his acoustic roots through greater use of synthesisers and electric organ, marking his entry into the adult contempary genre.
The album is softer in composition than its immediate predecessors with a return to slower, more introspective ballads as compared to the faster, country style of Lightfoot's mid-1970's albums.

The Shadows - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Shadows are a British instrumental rock 'n' roll group active from the 1950s to the 2000s.
This was almost the end of the band, although an album (Shades Of Rock) and a tour of Japan followed without Bruce, and with Alan Hawkshaw on keyboards which; in Hank's words, they did 'for the Yen'.
The group were chosen by BBC Boss Billy Cotton Jr to perform the A Song for Europe in the 1975 Eurovision Song Contest The Shadows recorded a number of alternatives and played a song each week on a six week television show.

Shadows Collide with People is without question the easiest Frusciante album for the uninitiated yet aspiring Frusciante fan to pick up.
Shadows on the other hand is an acoustic guitar album at it's heart.
Shadows kind of meanders along nicely (except for those damn electronic asides (-00Ghost27 and Failure33Object) until it reaches what is in my opinion the second great trio of the album consisting of "Song to Sing When I'm Lonely", "Time Goes Back", and "In Relief".

Tree of Shadows was initially formed so the members could record a cover song to be included on a tribute album.
New material was written, old material was polished, and Tree of Shadows tested their music and chemistry at a small gig in February of 2000.
Three months later, Tree of Shadows entered the studio to record their debut album, "Pause." "Pause" was released to coincide with the opening weekend of the 21st Annual Michigan Renaissance Festival, at which Tree of Shadows enjoyed a successful season as a new musical act.

Compare Prices and Read Reviews on The War Within [ECD] - Shadows Fall at Epinions.com
Shadows Fall may be the first in a line of metalcore acts to replace the long-stale nu metal movement in the mainstream.
And at the 2:54 mark, Shadows Fall prove that they have lost none of their intensity, as the song goes into a complete and total breakdown before bursting into a spiraling solo from Donais.
One gaping flaw in the new album that will turn many listeners off is that it lacks instant appeal; while the album is indeed awe-inspiring when listening to it, it takes many, many listens for the songs to root themselves.

Frozen Shadows is about halfway between old Emperor and old Immortal; there is even a song that ends in that abrupt Immortal style we've come to love.
On the stereo the album is lacking, and the dirty, buzzing production doesn't let you soak up the atmosphere as it's intended.
Frozen Shadows is a band that will be really good if it continues on the path it's on.

Colored Shadows (who at one time were known as "1984") is one of the LA area's bands most worth mentioning.
Stand-outs on the album include "Oslo in the Summertime", a machine-like slow-burner describing the delights of Scandinavian culture, and "I Was Never Young," a DFA-inspired dance track that gives the listener sufficient freedom to swing the head back, strut on the spot and enjoy abandon.
The result is a fluid album that conveys the thoughtful DJ verve of Prefuse 73 with the mania of his co-conspirators.

 Angra
Brazilian Melodic Power Metal act Angra are set to release their fifth full length studio opus, 'Temple Of Shadows', a glorious concept album packed with galloping guitar riffs, intricate drum rhythms and soaring vocals, on SPV on February 14th 2005.
The series of events in his life that subsequently unfold are narrated over the 13 tracks on 'Temple Of Shadows', Angra's most creative and daring album yet, which includes the fastest songs and most intricate pieces of music the band have ever come up with.
The band's fourth studio album, 'Rebirth', set for release on November 26th on SPV through Koch, is a brilliant concoction of all of the above and more, a classic collection of fast paced melodic metal interlaced with South American folk influences.

Album Review NEHEMAH-Shadows from the Past :: Maelstrom :: Issue No 13
Their first album, Light of a Dead Star with its simplistic, fuzzy sounding riffs of earlier Darkthrone, and slightly surreal atmosphere akin to Manes and had more than enough variation to keep me interested.
Now this follow up album has all of these elements yet I can`t help but feel it lacks something.
However, Shadows from the Past is still a quality raw fl metal release, there are still some great riffs, gravel-throated vocals and that eerie atmosphere that I think will definitely appeal to the fans of the likes of Armagedda, Mutiilation, Gorgoroth, Craft, and of course worshippers of Under a Funeral Moon-era Darkthrone.

Joseph Arthur: Our Shadows Will Remain: Pitchfork Review   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-10)
On one hand, his fourth full-length album-- and first after parting ways with longtime label Real World and signing with Vector Recordings-- is informed by terror-era jitteriness, a fear of something worse than death: abject annihilation.
The resulting album is not a drastic departure, but it does sound more expansive-- both geographically and musically.
There seems to be a lot of distance in the album, as Arthur evokes both the Midwest (the brief "In Ohio") and Los Angeles ("Echo Park"), not to mention New Orleans and New York.

Temple of Shadows has a heavier sound than past Angra albums but otherwise leaves the core sound of the band intact.

The Shadows were one of the giant acts of the Sixties, not only as Cliff Richard's backing band but putting out monster instrumental hits of their own.
But to me the hits are pale shadows of their former greatness, and the feeble cabaret copies of hits by Elton, the Police, Dire Straits etc are a waste of their talent.
The only real problem is that almost all 'shadows' fans will have these tracks on the other 'best of' & 'greatest hits' cd's which have been released over the years - I expect this new one has been put out in time for the 'shadows last' UK tour.

Conceptually, the defining track on Soul Shadows is the Walter Donaldson-Sam Lewis-Joe Young composition "How You Gonna Keep 'Em Down on the Farm?" which opens the set.
For Joe Sample, the album is something of a long overdue tribute to a chief personal influence slightly lesser known to the listening public-James Reese Europe, the first bona fide jazz big band leader whose Jazz orchestra entered Paris in 1918 as part of the famous Fighting 369th unit.

It is almost as if the band got together and said, "Hey, guys, let's create an album that combines everything Shawn hates to hear in metal." From the sound of things, each member thought it to be a good idea.
Another dramatic flourish that Garden of Shadows revels in that I find annoying is the juxtaposition of various vocal deliveries, from the death like roll most prominent to the clean, female vocals that cut into the mix occasionally.
