Shafik al-Wazzan was the Prime Minister of Lebanon from 1980 until 1984.
In December 1991, Wazzan was wounded when a car bomb exploded in the Beirut neighborhood of Basta.
Wazzan died in 1999 at the age of 74.

Wazzan, a Sunni Muslim lawyer, was thrust into the nation's second-most powerful office as a compromise prime minister on Oct. 25, 1980, after Lebanon had been without a government for 137 days at the height of the 1975-90 civil war.
Wazzan is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
