KARACHI, Oct 2: An Urban Transport Service bus route is likely to be introduced in Shah Faisal Colony shortly as the transport department is in touch with at least two UTS bus operators for starting the service up to Tower via Sharea Faisal and Shaheed-i-Millat Road.
In response to news item titled “Shah Faisal Colony — Transporters block induction of UTS”, the city government’s transport and communications department said it was making all-out efforts to provide an effective transport service to commuters in view of the high travel demand and shortage of public transport service in Shah Faisal Town.
It further said that efforts were being made to induct new UTS buses, and referred to a meeting of the District Regional Transport Authority (DRTA) Board held on June 14, 2004, and stated that the board strongly supported the operation of new routes from Shah Faisal Colony.

KARACHI: At least four vehicles were torched in Shah Faisal Colony and Korangi areas while tension gripped parts of Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Khokhrapar, Shah Faisal and other areas, as miscreants pelted stones on moving vehicles and burnt tyres on the road.
Witnesses said groups of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM) workers came on the streets in Shah Faisal Colony and Khokhrapar areas on Saturday night and pelted stones on the vehicles.
However, till our filing of this report, tension prevailed in Shah Faisal Colony and heavy contingents of police and rangers were patrolling to bring the situation under control.

The incident triggered tension in the area, Shah said, adding that police and paramilitary troops had been deployed to keep the situation under control during the funeral of the slain men scheduled later in the day.

According to witnesses, Deputy Superintendent of Police (retd) Sadiq Hussain Shah (64) and his son, police constable Abid Hussain Shah (29) were gunned down were sitting in their car (B-6925) outside a tyre shop in Madina Market of Al-Falah, when two assailants targeted them with their pistols.
The two victims got critically injured and succumbed to their wounds before being shifted to the hospital.
