		With their seamless and deceptively delicate blend of jazz, funk, latin and contemporary keyboard innovation, Shakatak provided a sophisticated soundtrack fto the first half of the '80s that nevertheless sounds perennial.
		Shakatak's unique instrumental-unison vocal combination is a deceptively big sound: it's provided by Bill Sharpe (whose extra-Shakatak activities include several hit collaborations with Gary Numan), George Anderson, Roger Odell, Nigel Wright and Keith Winter, and from 1984 Gil Saward as lead vocalist.

		That's the kind of Shakatak music that should be most prevalent onthis album - listen to their 'Night Birds' album, I think that era was their best and thus should be celebrated the most.
		Shakatak's songs don't just hit you when you first hear them but slowly grip you as they progress.

		Although this one-disc version of the best of Shakatak is not remastered, the sound quality is very good showing that it was mastered well to begin with.
		However, most if not all of their best work is already here on one disc and as the sound quality isn't bad at all, I'd recommend going for this one instead of spending much, much more on the 3-disc version which appears to me to be overkill anyway.
		All the great ones are already on this disc such as "Night Birds", "Invitations", "Streetwalking" and "Dark is the Night." If you like Shakatak and want to hear their best work without getting all their albums, this is the one to get.

		When our brave lads took to the stage, they were cutting edge playing with the Police and the Stranglers, (and getting pelted with firecrackers in the proccess), an antidote to the dying punk scene no less.
