Sham Shui Po tends to have everything although Mongkok is just fine.

From Tung Chau Street to the Sham Shui Po MTR station is 8 blocks, not two, including crossing the wide Lai Chi Kok Road.
The new MTR Nan Cheong station may be a little closer, but Nan Cheong is on the Tung Chung line, so it's only convenient if you're commuting to Central or to Lantau.
But MTR will be very far, and you'll get tired of that walk by the 3rd day.

It's better if a local can go with you because they'll probably know which exit from the train station to take is best, and be able to communicate with the people at the vendors to make sure you get the proper equipment.
