The Shanghai Sharks (Chinese: 上海大鲨鱼; Hanyu Pinyin: Shànghǎi dàshāyú), are a Chinese Basketball Association team based in Shanghai, China.
It is best-known outside China as the club that developed Yao Ming before he entered the NBA.
In the 2004–2005 season, the Shanghai Sharks finished in fifth place in the South Division, out of the playoffs.

In the semi-finals, Bayi Rockets defeated the Jilin Northeast Tigers and the Shanghai Sharks defeated the Beijing Ducks.

The first commercial Taiwan airline arrived in Shanghai this morning via Hong Kong to fly the first batch of Taiwanese from Shanghai back to Taipei for Chinese New Year's.
They say that if it was truly a "direct-flight" between Shanghai to Taipei, it should take about 1:15, but the flight will now take about 4 hours because of the detour to Hong Kong.
