Though the provincial government has declared emergency all over the province, the death toll is feared to move much higher as hundreds of the affectees are still stranded under the debris in the remote areas where effective rescue activities could not be conducted owing to hosts of problems.
At least 70 persons were reported killed in Shangla district including 15 in sub tehsil Chaksar, 13 in Alpori, 22 in Bisham and more than six people succumbed to their injuries in Karora.
All the District level staff of official departments was asked to coordinate with DCOs Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohistan, Battagram etc. The Health, Works and Services and Civil Defence Departments have been directed to make their services available in the affected areas round the clock.

LAHORE: There is no ‘complaint’ of price hike in 13 districts of Punjab where special price magistrates could not detect even a single case of violation by shopkeepers and traders, according to a report prepared by the Home Department for the period from July 19 to August 5.
The report states that the authorities in six district governments have ‘full confidence’ in their traders and shopkeepers that they would not indulge in profiteering or hoarding of the essential commodities or create artificial shortage.
Second to the City District Government Lahore in terms of raids and fines is the City District Government Faisalabad, where the authorities conducted 686 raids, noticed 201 violations and awarded Rs 431,900 fines.
