The Shangpa Kagyu is a relatively obscure sub-sect of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Kagyu denomination is held to originate with Vajradhara, the buddha Dorje Chang, who embodies all forms and aspects of all buddhas.

Both Drikung and Karma Kagyu lineages spring from Gampopa...so it is appropriate to call both lineages part of the "Dakpo Kagyu," after Gampopa's place of residence.
In fact, all the Kagyu lineages, except for the Shangpa Kagyu, are Dakpo Kagyu.
It's my feeling that the current Kagyu lineages all have Samvara practices, and that they are all likely influenced by many streams from India....though Ghantapa's system is likely paramount for all Kagyu lineages, I think there are various influences from the other Samvara traditions, and even from subsequent great masters from within the lineages.
