		Due to the long hang time and extra cool weather, there was a fair amount of mold and rasining in the vineyard.
		The background image on the label is a photograph of Sharon's Vineyard taken a few days before the 1999 Harvest.
		It's the same photo that I've included on my Vineyards page (it's the left-most one).

		Conan mentions his suspicions concerning Chris Vineyard harking back to the case in volume 24 and Heiji guesses that Conan is suspicious of a foreign woman nearby which is Jodie Saintemillion.
		However, she is well aware of his identity as revelled when she is alone and moves her bathroom mirror to look at the photos she has behind it which includes one of Heiji.
		They meet Sharon Vineyard, Chris's mother, who mentions that her daughter is proficient in disguise (like Sharon herself) and that Chris has fallen in with a bad crowd.

		In other vineyards, it meant that some of the riper fruit (maybe 10 to 20%) actually raisined and withered.
		A few vineyards (Clos Pepe and Cargasacchi) actually gave me fruit that I didn't have to add any water or acid to, but they were the exceptions.
		I had expected that they would be opened on Saturday with the multitude of other pinot noirs, so imagine my surprise when, towards the end of the evening on Friday, I found both of them on the table with just enough in each for me to get a good read on what they're showing.

		One of the first things that Portet did upon his installment as head of the domaine was to replant many of the vineyards with Syrah and Mourvèdre, removing much (but not all) of the predominantly Grenache grapes that had been planted.
		Originally an apple orchard, this vineyard has lots of hot, daily sun exposure but is close enough to the coast to get morning and evening ocean fog, making for excellent Pinot Noir growing conditions.
		The vineyard contains two different clones of the Pinot grape (Pommard and 777) which are harvested, sorted and fermented separately during winemaking.

		The Loring Wine Company's first commercial vintage came only 2 years later, and was 150 cases of 1999 Pinot Noir made from Norm Beko's "Sharon's Vineyard" named after his wife.
		His very next vintage (of which this wine is an example) in quantities of only 270 cases, earned 90+ point ratings from some of the major critics, and overnight Brian became somewhat of a superstar, or what passes for one in the winemaking world.
		This wine is from Loring's second vintage, and came from grapes grown at Clos Pepe vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills area of Santa Barbara County, near Lompoc.
