 EROSION CONTROL BLANKET STUDY
The study was conducted on the outer slope of the levee of a recently constructed water treatment detention pond.
The purpose of the study was to test the effectiveness of the blankets to prevent erosion, aid in grass seed germination, and also to test the durability of the blankets.
A total of 12 different blankets were installed in October 1998 by Shasta College faculty and students.

RED BLUFF - After four years, the Tehama College Center project is closer to becoming bricks and mortar.
The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District Board of Trustees is expected to authorize next week the administration to move forward with the selection of an architectural firm for the project, which will be built on Diamond Avenue in Red Bluff.
The new college center will be built on a 40-acre parcel that is part of the former Diamond Mill property, owned by GEN III, LLC, about one mile east of Interstate 5 and just north of Diamond Avenue.

REDDING, Calif.—Shasta College President Mary Retterer has resigned amid a dispute over the future of the college and will be paid $156,266 in salary and benefits over the next three years, the college said.
Retterer and the college board disagreed over how to maintain the school’s academic and fiscal integrity as its enrollment numbers dropped and state funding declined, according to a statement released by the board after its meeting Wednesday.
The college agreed to buy out part of Retterer’s four-year contract for $112,665, provide her and her husband with insurance until 2009 and pay her for 22 vacation days worth more than $22,000.

Associated Student Body President James Boeckholt was in attendance at his final Shasta College Board of Trustees meeting this month as ASB president and offered some advice to the board, mainly to remind them their service was to the students of the college.
Dr. Waterbury said that one of the problems with the college is that “it’s the only community college within hundreds of miles.” This in turn creates the problem of faculty not communicating with other community colleges to find out how their faculty is running things and dealing with problems.
The college used to hire a head-hunter service for around $10,000 who would find people who had paid the same company to get a job.
