Working mostly within an acoustic (but not necessarily folk) setting, Shawn Colvin wraps her warm, distinctive vocal chords around ten richly resonant compositions; though signposts point to Suzanne Vega, the Peregrins, or what a solo record by one of the Indigo Girls might sound like, the spotlight here is all hers.
Shawn Colvin is too fine a lyricist to totally fall into that trap, but her tendency to dwell on past regrets does add slightly too melancholic an edge to this first collection of songs.

I have no idea whether Shawn ever visited the site or not, but I always got the impression that her management was more annoyed with it than pleased about it...however, many thanks to Lisa in particular at AGF for at least responding to my questions.
I wish there were another Shawn site out there that I could direct people to, but hopefully somebody will start giving Shawn the attention she deserves and update her official site at www.shawncolvin.com more frequently.

I saw Shawn Colvin in concert the other night at the Big Tent Chautauqua south of Bayfield, Wisconsin, and she was introduced as a three time Grammy winner.

This is Shawn Colvin's first album in quite sometime and is well worth the wait especially if you were not a fan of her previous release, Whole New You.
Shawn Colvin appeared at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London on 18 Sep and treated the audience to an acoustic set of warmth, wit and wistfulness: a glimpse of what appears on 'These Four Walls'.
This is a brilliant return to form from Shawn and John Leventhal, there are so many great tracks on this record it is very hard to pick some stand outs and having read the American reviews (it came out there last week) it does seem to be a personal preference.

When I first got this album, it was orginally for "Sunny came home" but the whole album is a wonderful testament to singer/songwriter Shawn Colvin; I have never had a musical performer speak to me in such a way before.
Colvin's first track, "Sunny Came Home," is pure brilliance in its complexity and symbolism, but I just noticed something upon listening to this song just moments ago: at the very end of the song, you can hear a real match being lit, and being blown out, completely relevant to the lyrics.
Artists like Colvin are great in that new things and new meanings can be found within their songs upon repeated listenings.
