Sheboygan area charter captains were overwhelmed by one of their busiest seasons to date, running as many as three trips daily to accommodate the demand.
Sheboygan charters hauled in a whooping 26,553 fish, which is an amazing 21% increase from a year ago and a new area record of 10.9 fish per trip.
Sheboygan has long maintained its “Fishermen Friendly” reputation among the sport fishing community, and is well known for its outstanding fishing grounds along with its clean and modern boating facilities popular with fishing tourists.

Sheboygan was no exception, with one early visitor reporting "it will, I think, possess advantages over every other place on the lake (two or three excepted).
Sheboygan quickly became a hive of shipbuilding activity, with at least seven shipyards flourishing along the banks of the river, with fishing boats, schooners, steamers up to two hundred feet in length, and even a fireboat calling Sheboygan their birthplace.
The final light at Sheboygan, and the light which stands to this day, was constructed of cast iron and prefabricated offsite and transported by boat to Sheboygan in 1915.
