hechen Buddhist Society, Croatia was founded in 2001, under the personal guidance of Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, the grandson of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche (1910-1991), one of the greatest masters of the twentieth century and the past head of the Nyingma lineage.
In 1983, Dilgo Khyetnse Rinpoche built Shechen Tennyi Dargye Ling Monastery in Nepal and appointed Rabjam Rinpoche as its young abbot.
The original Shechen Moanstery in Kham, eastern Tibet, was one of the six major Nyingma monasteries in Tibet and was destroyed in the Chinese cultural revolution.

A magnificent traditional welcoming ceremony was held for the third Shechen Kongtrul Rinpoche (Gesar Mukpo) in the main shrine hall that included a blessing ceremony for all of the monks and laypeople of the area.
Shechen Kongtrul Rinpoche, Khamyuang Rinpoche and David Mukpo were hosted in the private quarters of Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche, while Lady Diana was stayed in rooms created for the new young Khyentse Yangtsi Rinpoche (the incarnation of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche).
On the next day the party toured the shedra, the clinic and the school at Shechen, and Shechen Kongtrul Rinpoche gave the lung of the Sadhana of Mahamudra in the main courtyard of the monastery.

Although his father wanted him to follow in his footsteps, he finally agreed to allow his son to pursue his own wishes and, at the age of eleven, Rinpoche entered Shechen Monastery in Kham, one of the six main monasteries of the Nyingma School.
