		Shedir is yet another cool (class K) orange giant star, of the kind that so heavily populates the outlines of the constellations.
		Shedir and Hamal in Aries are the only two stars in the sky whose "limb darkening" has been directly observed (by use of a sophisticated telescope that makes use of the interference properties of light).

		My first Shedir sat on the shelf for a couple of months while I searched the world for a second ball in the same dye lot to knit the last 20 or 30 rows.
		I spent most of the time I was knitting this Shedir wondering whether I could make a baby sized one by dropping two of the pattern repeats in a row to make the hat 6 segments instead of eight and also dropping one or two of the main cable pattern repeats.
		Sadly while I have been waiting for the yarn to finish Shedir a family member has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently waiting to find out if she will be needing chemo or not.

		I casted on only 96 sts, knitted 7 rows of ribbing (instead of 9), only 6 pattern repeats per row (instead of 8), and only 3 repeats of the main cable pattern (instead of 5).

		Once you think you are in focus you should enlarge the image 400% and have another look.

		For less tightness and more length, if I were to make another one, I would consider going up to size 4s (although then I’m sure I’d have to get another ball of Calmer and we don’t make $22 hats around here dahlin).
		After knitting Rogue, Shedir was much, much easier because I was familiar with Jenna’s charts.
		I don’t know why, but at first I found the symbols confusing, but they are really so intuitive that after one chart of Rogue, I didn’t need to refer back to the legend or key again.
