Nine fish were tracked to the Black River, 9 fish to the U.S. section of the drainage, and 36 (8%) fish to the Canadian section, including 14 fish that traveled to the Fishing Branch River.
Fish traveling to the Yukon River main stem were encountered later in the season, comprising 7%-8% of the sample during the first 2 weeks of the study and 20%-23% of the sample during the last 2 weeks.

My question is, a buddy of mine suggested we hunt the sheenjek river for moose and caribou in 2003, from what I hear it is a popular hunt with the floaters and advised we go else were, but he insists that we go check it out and thinks we will do pretty good.
I do agree with you on the politeness and right of way on the rivers, and too myself would not want to hear a power boat on a float trip, but the rivers are free to use for all, as long as we all use good judgment towards others.
As with the Sheenjek, you will see some traffic on these rivers, but if you know your stuff you may have an edge over the other folks who may be approaching it a bit more casually.

The river drops a lot through this section and there are many Class I "rapids".  Nothing tricky, but we have to have the canoes in the right part of the river or we'll hit rocks or ground. 
Reach the junction with the east fork of the Sheenjek at 4:20.
We are all worried that the lower river is going to be slow going and hard work.   We still have a long ways to go.

We paddle from the Noatak River's headwaters just as the Western Arctic Caribou Herd is migrating through the mountain passes, swimming the river in small and large bands.
The river is ideally suited to canoes, and moves along at a good clip, with a splash of Class II whitewater to add a bit of excitement.
We leave the highest mountains and the river widens, increases in volume and the gradient becomes more apparent, reaching a canyon where the gradient and rocks create Class II rapids.

15 moose were collared along each of three Refuge rivers: the Sheenjek (green circles), Coleen (yellow circles), and Firth (blue circles); and 12 were collared in the Kongakut River area (pink circles).
Because the moose move across a wide region of mountians and rivers, biologists flew in small airplanes to search for the animals in the study.
By mid April, moose were moving from the Kongakut River area (most northern capture site), and some of the Sheenjek River moose had moved south down the Sheenjek River valley.

A few miles to the north was the glaciated pass, but a few miles to the west was the 69N 144W degree confluence I had noticed last year on a similar journey.
After a few miles of river bank travel and some mushy tundra we turned south up a bare narrowing rocky canyon which we hoped would let us get close to the confluence point, about 2000 feet higher on a spur ridge of an un-named glaciated peak.
The GPS showed 69 00' 00" and 144 00' 6.7"secs and we took shots of the Sheenjek River valley to east, the snow-clad peak to the south and the glaciated valley to the southwest.
