The seat of Heeley has been in its present form since 1983 when Park ward was transferred from the (now) Central constituency to Heeley.
It also presaged 2 years of clean sweeps in Heeley: in both 1999 and 2000 every seat contested in Heeley constituency was won by the Liberal Democrats.
Heeley will soon be selecting a PPC for the next General Election.

I also was born and lived in Heeley for a good part of my youth.
I do remember going to the HeeleyGreen before it was a cinema where I saw Gypsy Petrulengo and a man who whistled (could it have been Ronnie Rinaldi?) and also the strongest man in the world.
I also remember the little terrace house on HeeleyGreen that was between 2 shops (one of which was the Herbalists where as a treat mom would take me for a drink (I think it was Vimto or Saspirella) out of the pump on the counter.
Meetings have been held regularly on Monday afternoons at Heeley Bank School since 1982 which is testament to their dedication and enthusiasm.
The aims of bringing this valuable record to the Internet are to preserve their work, bring it to the widest possible audience and hopefully to stimulate a few memories.
If you want to know more about the Heeley's History Workshop, if you have any information/materials to contribute or if you want to obtain copies of the publications please e-mail me at this address oldheeley@supanet.com and I will forward your information and requests.
