Eye Weekly - PARK: Hell freezes over -- Rae fires Martel - 10.20.94
Shelley Martel, the only cabinet Minister in Ontario history who took a lie detector test to prove she was lying, has finally been fired by Premier Rae.
Rae had defended Martel for more than two years after she slandered a Sudbury doctor by claiming he was going to face criminal charges and then saying she made the whole thing up.
Ms Martel, who recently married Natural Resources Minister Howard Hampton, said in a statement that she intends to remain in the Legislature as an MPP, raise a family and run in the next election.
