The ending to Shenmue 2 (which ended with Chapter 5, as Yu Suzuki claimed that the first game was only the first chapter, while each disc in the second game was a chapter in itself...
As far details go, I'll mention one thing that I liked in Shenmue 2 that had changed from the first game (though it's certainly not the only thing): Ryo seemed to be much more assertive and a badass; the trip to Hong Kong must have taken enough time for his pals to drop.
Shenmue have 4 parts to the story line, but it's a doubt if all 4 parts will be made into games..

It's well over a year since we were first acquainted with Shenmue 2 on the Dreamcast, the platform on which the mysterious, enigmatic story of young Ryo attempting to avenge the murder of his father was born.
The snail's pace at which Shenmue 2 seems generally comfortable ambling along, coupled with a completely indifferent-sounding Ryo, means that it's extremely easy to lose interest in the proceedings very early on.
Shenmue 2 is still a charming and enormous game underneath, with plenty to do if you take the time out to do it; I particularly relished the arcade fighting-for-cash sections, and of course there are emulated Sega classics like Outrun and Afterburner to occupy you in slow times, but none of this makes the game.

Firstly, there is a Shenmue II playable demo and trailer on the February issue of the Official Xbox Magazine in America.
The official Shenmue Muecas site has posted a comment on this which says that it is likely that Shenmue III will be a movie of which there will be no game version.
Interestingly, one of our old polls on this site asked "If the Shenmue games stopped being made, how would you like the story to continue?" and the answer with the most votes was in fact a CG Movie, which had 33% of the votes, compared to 18% for the next most popular choice.

This Shenmue has way moer of a free world than Shenmue 1 did, which is a little better.
The Shenmue series are among my favourite games of all time, I finished Shenmue II and immediately wanted to play the next episode in the saga.
This is only a minor compaint however, the fighting is as slick as the previous Shenmue game, with numerous moves (taken from the virtua fighter engine) to master.

Let's not forget that this is the most action intensive chapter of Shenmue to date, because you have to beat a number of street fighters in hand to hand combat in order to gain access to the final area of the chapter which involves traversing your way up a skyscraper floor by floor.
Sure, there would be a Shenmue II coming to the Xbox in the fall of 2002 that would be much better than the Dreamcast version, but a whole year is a long time to wait when the European version of the game was still coming out for the Dreamcast.
