Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century - Biocrawler   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-24)
Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century is a 26-episode animated television series placing Sherlock Holmes in a science fiction setting.
In New London, the spacescrapered London of the 22nd Century, Inspector Beth Lestrade of New Scotland Yard is chasing grotesquely deformed French rogue geneticist Martin Fenwick, when she realizes that his companion is none other than the 19th century criminal mastermind, Professor James Moriarty.
This show's method for preserving Holmes and bringing him back to life should not be confused with the cryogenic method used by the 1987 Michael Pennington/Margaret Colin TV movie/failed pilot, The Return of Sherlock Holmes, or the suspended animation in the 1993 Anthony Higgins/Debrah Farentino Sherlock Holmes Returns TV movie.

Sherlock Holmes - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sherlock Holmes describes himself as a "consulting detective", an expert who is brought into cases that have proven too difficult for other (typically official) investigators; we are told that he is on many an occasion able to solve a problem without leaving his home.
Readers of the Sherlock Holmes stories have often been surprised to discover that their author, Conan Doyle, was a fervent believer in paranormal phenomena, and that the logical, sceptical character of Holmes was in opposition to his own in many ways.
Sherlock Holmes' abilities as both a good fighter and as an excellent logician have been a boon to other authors who have lifted his name, or details of his exploits, for their plots.

Holmes paid them a shilling a day (plus expenses), with a guinea prize (or one pound, one shilling) for a vital clue.
The Irregulars also appear in the animated series Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century, though these are teenagers, and presumably older than the ones of the Doyle canon.
Holmes practically deduces his entire life story simply by noting his walk and the stains on his clothes during their first meeting.

Holmes cannot be said to be misogynistic, given the number of women he helps in his work, but it may be that his own detached and analytical personality is annoyed by their excessively emotional (from his perspective) natures.

Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century - Television Review
Sherlock Holmes has been brought back to life in the 22nd century to track down a clone of his old nemesis, Professor Moriarty.
This odd show is a combination of high-tech computer wizardry and Sherlock's trademark methods of observation, logical analysis, and elaborate explanations of the mystery at the end.
The mysteries are intriguing enough to catch a viewer's attention, however, and it's fun to watch Holmes explain it all at the end with his customary panache.

The great sleuth Sherlock Holmes has now found his way to the 22nd century, with the help of Inspector Beth Lestrade of the New Scotland Yard and some advanced technology.
The series has the potential to be quite engrossing, although sometimes the line between the literary and the lowbrow is rather thin.
If kids haven't read the original stories, or don't know much about the stories beyond Holmes' name, some of the potential is lost, and at times, the futuristic threatens to overtake the classic.
