 Clark County History
Clark County was named after the intrepid explorer who, in the Lewis and Clark expedition, blazed a way across the continent, then a vast pathless wilderness, and proclaimed to the world the wonderful resources of the great area west of the Mississippi.
It was not performed in Clark County, however, the ceremony being at Melrose in Jackson County by a Justice of the Peace, on March 7, 1847.
The county includes a rectangular area seven townships long and five ranges wide, being 23 to 29, inclusive and ranges 1 east to 4 west, inclusive, except the town 23, range 4 west, in the southwestern corner of the rectangle, which is a part of Jackson County.

 Biographical Sketches-Oconomowoc Township, Waukesha County, Wisconsin Genealogy (GenWeb)
At that time the wilderness of the county was unbroken save but by the well-worn Indian trails which led from the four lakes at Madison to Lake Koshkonong, which, a few years previous, had been the camping-ground of the famous Indian chief Black Hawk.
Y., in 1831, and came to Wisconsin in 1844 and located on a farm in the town of Ixonia, Jefferson Co., which was his home till 1853 or ’54, when he removed to the town of Ashippun, Dodge Co., and engaged in farming there till 1874, when he came to Oconomowoc,.
His second marriage was in 1859, to Sarah A. Halverson, a native of Norway, and came to Wisconsin in 1849; their children are Isabella A., now in Evanston, Ill. Nicholas H.; Paulina F.; Nelson I. and Betsy A. Two of his sons are members of the Lutheran Church, the rest attend the Methodist.

Jane A. Clark and General William Tecumseh Sherman, the commander of the Army of the West during the U.S. Civil War, are descendants of Simon Hoyt.
These (continuing) efforts are dedicated to the memories of Warren Wait and Jane A. Clark, a man and woman I have never met or known because of the separation of time; the deep sense of pride, affection and admiration felt for them, and the love for a family descending from them.

Was born in Scioto County, Ohio, February 28, 1831, living there until fifteen years of age, when he moved to Henderson County, Illinois, with his parents, living there until the spring of 1869, when he moved to Montgomery County, and located on his present farm of sixty-four acres of land well-improved.
Born in Oswego County, New York, in 1838, and moved with his parents at three years of age to McHenry County, Illinois, and settled on a farm, where he was raised and educated, and in August, 1862, married to Miss Martha Teabo, a native of Illinois.
Born in Warren County, Illinois, April 16, 1849, and was raised on the old homestead; was educated in the graded schools of Monmouth, Illinois, finishing his education in Monmouth College.

It occurs, apparently sparingly, with galena at the Culverhouse barite mine, Loudon County, and the Gordonsville and Elmwood zinc mines in Smith County, Tennessee.
Anglesite is of widespread occurrence in New Mexico, with "museum specimens" being reported from the Organ district, Dona Ana County, and good crystals exceeding 1 cm in length on galena and associated with pyrolusite and hematite at the Carnahan mine, New Placers district, Santa Fe County (Northrup 1959).
In California, anglesite occurred as large masses and crystalline crusts in mines of the Cerro Gordo district, Inyo County; as crystals to 1 cm from the Blind Spring Hill area of Mono County; and in crystals at the Ibex mine south of Saratoga Springs and in ores of the Blue Bell mine, San Bernardino County.

The La Cross Land Dealer of Feb. 6, 1873, contain a write-up of Clark County, in which the writer states that Neillsville is a flourishing little village which will soon rival Humbird as a business center.
Although the village and county were so new, an Old Settlers' Reunion was held on Feb. 27, 1873, at Johnson and Meyers' Hotel, now the O'Neill House.

 Montgomery County Iowa Biographical Sketches
His father moved to Essex County, New York, when he was eighteen years of age and here he studied medicine with his brother for eleven years, then went to Castleton Medical college, Vermont, two terms and graduated.
Moved to Emmitt County, Iowa, and lived there two years, then to Dickinson County, where he lived till 1875, when he moved to Red Oak; practiced there five years, then moved to Elliott, where he is now practicing with good success, in company with his son Fred.
His sister, Melinda, died in Scott County April 12, at the age of two years; his brother, F. Logan, is a soldier in the regular army, company I, fifth cavalry United States, now stationed at Fort Laramie; he was in the charge under Gen. Mills at the White River massacre.
