Shibuya is also famous for its intersection crossing, reportedly the world's busiest, which is located in front of Shibuya Station and uses a four-way stop to allow pedestrians to inundate the entire intersection (this is called a "pedestrian scramble", スクランブル交差点 sukuranburu kōsaten, or the Barnes Dance after traffic engineer Henry Barnes).
The main train stations in the ward are Shibuya Station itself, Yoyogi, Harajuku, and Ebisu.
The plaza in front of JR Shibuya Station is known as Hachikō (ハチ公) Square, after a loyal dog who waited here for its master for years on end and is now commemorated with a diminutive statue.

In April, 1934, a bronze statue in his likeness was erected at Shibuya Station, and Hachiko himself was present at its unveiling.
During his owner's life, Hachiko saw him off from the front door and greeted him at the end of the day at the nearby Shibuya Station.
Hachiko's devotion to his lost master moved those around him, who nicknamed him "faithful dog," though some speculate that he kept returning because of the handouts he received from street vendors (upon his death, an autopsy revealed remnants of what were apparently yakitori skewers in his stomach).

Shibuya is one of the twenty-three city wards of Tokyo, but often refers to just the popular shopping and entertainment area around Shibuya Station.
