Shigeo Nagashima (長嶋茂雄 Nagashima Shigeo, born February 20, 1936) is a famous Japanese baseball player in Japan.
Later after the game Kaneda made a comment on Shigeo and said that "Shigeo would become a great opponent to me so I did my best to defeat him." Shigeo's first game was not good but after that he started to make great records as he used to.

The Baseball Guru - JAPAN’S TOP PLAYERS by Jim Albright
The only other players I found with five or more 30 point seasons were Nagashima (7), Bessho (6), Starffin (6), Katsuya Nomura (6), Jiro Noguchi (5), Masaichi Kaneda (5), and Inao (5).
Nagashima was renowned for his glovework in addition to his potent bat, and nothing I said in comparing him to Nomura should be construed to mean he was anything but a truly great player in Japan.
The fact Nagashima beats him out proves a player with a higher peak performance can do well in this rating system, given that Harimoto had a higher average in 1572 more at bats, 614 more hits, 60 more homers.
